" He was a good guy. Just like me, he craved a family. At least I knew who my parents were but he didn't. He tried to find his parents after he moved out of the orphanage but he failed, Faith and I were his only family," Aiden said.
It had been an hour since we just sat next to each gazing at the tomb of Alexander.
He cried and cried, pouring out his remorse and anguish until there were no tears left, all that left was were regrets which will always remain.
Aiden always wanted a perfect family, however, all he received was a broken family who times and again pushed him away and bestowed him with disappointments. Perhaps, he was this way because of a chaotic childhood.
" You should go and meet her," he pulled his gaze away from the tombstone and looked down at me, perplexedly. " Faith. You should meet her and apologize. Maybe meeting with her could lessen your guilt."
" I don't know if I could face her after everything," he said, softly.
"You can, maybe not today but in some time."
He nodded, and I placed my head on his shoulder.
We earned a moment or two of silence before the ringing of Aiden's phone disturbed the stillness. He discarded the phone from his pocket and answered without looking at the screen.
" Hello?" He said and paused for another person to respond; the grumbling sound could be heard from the phone.
Aiden's face hardened.
" I will be there in an hour," he said in a gruff and declined the phone quickly afterward. I placed one hand on his shoulder and instantly, he appeased.
" What happened?" I inquired.
" Wes called me to his house, there are some papers regarding a new project that needs to be attended urgently."
I nodded.
" Will you come with me? I don't know if I could bear him at the moment."
"Of course, I will." I smiled.
He rose from the ground taking me with him, then he kissed my lips softly.
" We will be back soon, Alexander," Aiden whispered, looking at the tombstone.
With that last glance at the tombstone, we commenced wandering through the graveyard to the car.
Shortly, we reached Mr. Stallard's residence, and it was as elegant and luxurious and vast as all the Stallard's properties. We directly went into the office area, and found Mr. Stallard reading some paper reclining on a chair.
"Better it's be fucking important for you have called me at this hour," Aiden mumbled picking up the paper and reading them. Mr. Stallard and I had never been acquainted before I have just seen him twice, both were disastrous occasions and we barely had talked. Mr. Stallard's eyes drifted to Aiden's behind where I was standing.
" Who is she?"
Aiden peered up from the paper and bored his sharp eyes into his father's incredulous gaze.
" She is my girlfriend."
A look of surprise gleamed in Mr. Stallard's countenance before he scrutinized under his gaze.
"She doesn't seem your type." He commented, plainly.
" Oh, so now you know what my types are," Aiden asserted, sharply.
" I was just saying, she is–"
"Instead of meddling in my personal life, I would like to get straight to the work." Aiden interrupted him, coldly.
He nodded.
Mr. Stallard sighed.
He lent me a last glance as he gave some paper to Aiden. They soon were immersed in their business work, and not wanting to be a distraction to them, I discovered a small couch present in the corner of the office and reclined on it. I seized a book from the near table and started going through it, in between I looked at Aiden engrossed in work examining paper after paper.
Mr. Stallard and Aiden have a complex relationship, Aiden despised his father for not being there for him when he needed and when Aiden finally gave up hope of having his father's love, his father invaded his life with the demand that now he wants his child back.
Just like his mother.
Why the realization struck us when it's too late to fix things?
Mr. Stallard had an opportunity to gain the love of Aiden for years, however, he was too masked with his own troubles that he neglected Aiden's plead. Now it's difficult to bring together two men, to create that bond of father and son.
The couch was very comfortable, I didn't even realize when I entered the world of darkness, ceasing all my thoughts.
When my eyes fluttered open, I was greeted with a very unfamiliar room, the soft bedding underneath was so comfortable that I wished to remain there for eternity.
" Did you sleep well?" A masculine deep raspy voice asked from next to me, I shifted from my place and looked at Aiden. He was typing something on the laptop and when he completed it, his deep forest gaze connected with mine. He appeared little tired; I think he had been working continuous. I looked at the clock.
3 am.
" Where are we?" I asked him, he placed his laptop aside and wrapped his arms around me, and buried his face in my neck.
"Wes's house, this is my childhood room," he whispered, sending pleasurable shivers through my body.
"How did we end up here?" I inquired, perplexedly.
"You fell asleep on the couch, so I brought you here."
I nodded my head.
He kissed my lips, softly and tightened his grip around me. "I am sorry because of me you had to stay awake for the whole night."
I put my hand on his hand that was placed on my cheek. "No, I could stay awake every night just to see you sleep peacefully."
He kissed me again, with passion and devotion, my toes curled at how fiercest pace he was kissing me.
"I love you," He looked at me. "Emerald, it's hard to imagine my life without you now."
I smiled.
"I like when you call my name instead of endearments," I said, kissing his cheek.
" You have a beautiful name that is incomparable with these trivial endearments."
" When did you grow the romantic bone?" I teased.
" After I met you," and with his lips crashed on mine, his hand wandered through my body awakening the sparks of desire. If heaven is there, then for me it's here, in his arms.
Breathlessly, I pulled myself away from him and looked at him with hooded eyes, as my heart thumped inside my chest for a very substantial reason.
" Yes," this one word was sufficient for him to know what I wanted to recite. In an instant, his hands wrapped me and he collected me from the bed and stood on the floor in the center of the room, and whirled me around until I felt dazed.
" Emerald, you made me the happiest man, thank you for saying yes. From today onwards each day, I will make sure that we make the house o ur home"
Yes, I said yes to moving in with Aiden. I realized that I don't want to waste my time thinking about all consequences, life is too short for not living the way we want. He makes me the happiest and I don't want to stay away from him. We should build memories each day rather than tension about what going to happen next.
"Aiden! Aiden! Stop!" He settled me on the floor and kissed my forehead, " I love you."
"And I love you too."
