Tumultuous hours passed; it was the direst hour of my life. Everyone was sitting on the chairs, some in a haze and some drinking coffee to relieve the stress, except me, I was frozen in the same place, outside Aiden's room, doing nothing but blaming myself for his condition.

The doctor appeared, his countenance was strained and apprehensive, and everyone rushed to him.

"How he is?" Wes asked.

The doctor sighed, heavily.

" Mr. Stallard, your son has internal bleeding, we were able to stop it, thankfully but the next few hours are very critical. We expected him to wake in an hour or so, if not then he might go in a comma."

My heart tugged.

No.

This can't be happening to him, it should have been me in his place, he did nothing. It was my fault.

Please, if there is any power above, I want you to bring Aiden back to me. I am ready to exchange my life with him if he could be saved and sound. Please I need him. I can't survive without him; I refuse to survive without him.

Please! Please! Bring him back.

" Can we meet him?" Eric asked.

" Yes, but one at a time" saying this doctor headed in a different direction. Without thinking, I strode to the door, and just as my fingers wrapped around the lock a hard voice halted me.

"You don't dare to go inside, it's because you he is in this condition," Mr. Stallard growled.

" Wes let her go, he will be needing her," Eric said from behind him, Mr. Stallard glared at me, nonetheless, he didn't protest Eric's demand, and reluctantly freed me to go inside Aiden's room.

I silently pushed the door and went inside; a strong smell of disinfectant burned my nostrils. My eyes drifted to the unconscious body of Aiden, I strode to his bed and stooped on the chair beside his bed. The chiseled face appeared handsome as always, there were a few cuts on his forehead and a bruise on his cheek. His eyes were closed in serene slumber, however, there was a vulnerability flashing on his face.

I took his hand in mine.

"I am s-sorry Aiden, please forgive," I whispered, tears slowly rolling down my face.

" Aiden, you remember right? You will be there for me when I need you, so Aiden please open your eyes and see how much I need you right now. It's hurting me Aiden, seeing you like this. I am so sorry."

A few tears dropped on his hand, I brought his back palm to my lips and softly kissed it.

" I love you so much Aiden, when you will wake up then we will go on a date night, and you know Christmas is near and I already brought you the gift, I am sure you will like it. There are so many things waiting for you, like this project, you have worked so hard and then our graduation is there."

I gulped the lump in my throat, which was restricting me painfully to seep the words out.

"Everyone is worried about you. D-Do you realize what will happen to me? I would rather die before seeing you slip out of my reach. Shout at me, be angry with me, break things but please wake up, I can bear this silence anymore. Please...."

A silence, a deafening silence was the answer, I received.

" Aiden please," my body shook, as an unbridled sob escaped from my mouth, pluses quickened and turmoil rose inside me. My head fell on his chest as I continued to cry.

" You have to wake up for me," I said, between my sobs. My vision was blurred with tears, and the only thing that was comforting was his scent which I was able to inhale due to my face buried near his shoulder.
