After Their Story Began

Chapter 66

Xander's POV

"You guys can hangout in each other's hotel room but you must be in your rooms by midnight for room check. Anyone not in their rooms will have to be picked up by their parents." Coach tells us before handing us our room keys

I'm rooming with Judah, Mac, and Laurence. We grabbed the tiny envelope with the keycard and went up to the room we were told.

When we get inside I drop my duffel bag next to one of the two queen beds in the room. Then I turn to the guys

"Can you three do me a solid and hangout in Dylan's room for like three hours?" I ask

"No way dude. We have to share a bed. Don't fuck in it." Mac yells instantly catching onto my intentions

"The couch pulls out to a bed. We can just fuck there."

"Fine. Remember to use condoms kids." Judah caved

There was a knock on the door and I knew it was Lily. Mac let her in and the guys left shortly after.

We wasted no time getting naked...

One Hour Later

We rip away from each other when we hear the door open. My heart rate picks up when I see not only both our coaches but also a few cops behind them

"UNBELIEVABLE! BOTH OF YOU GET DRESSED RIGHT NOW!" Coach screams at us

Lily grabs the blanket beside us and wraps it around her body before getting up.

I grab my underwear and do my best to put it on without flashing anyone. I feel gross since I wasn't able to remove the condom.

At least I didn't finish in it.

"Why are there cops?" I ask

"Because the legal age of consent in this county is eighteen. Once the little lady is dressed we'll be taking her in for statutory rape." The officer answers

"That's silliness. We didn't know that. In New York which is where we're from I can consent to having sex with her."

"Ignorance of the law is not a defense from it."

"Coach did you call them?" Lily asked

"If I knew you were sleeping together I would've kept a closer eye on you two."

"Xander's dad knows we're sexually involved. Can't he give consent on his behalf?" Lily asks on the brink of tears

"In that case he can be looking at charges and even stand to lose custody of him."

That's when it sunk in that we royally fucked up. I've never seen Lily so scared. I couldn't even reassure her that everything would be alright.

At the Precinct

We've both been here for hours. The anxiety is eating me alive. As expected they had to call our parents so we're waiting for them to arrive. The first thing I did was make a call to Elijah for help again. I can't put Lily on the sex offender registry and I can't go back to Alessandro.

An officer comes into the interrogation room I'm sitting in

"You know a very powerful man. Let's go."

I stood up and followed him out. I saw dad talking to Lily's parents and our coaches.

"I'm free." Lily told me

"Really?"

"They're letting me off with a verbal warning since we're dumb high schoolers from another state." She hugged me

Her father was shooting daggers at me which I completely understood.

What I didn't understand was why my dad was shooting me daggers

"While I don't want to send home my top scorer and best defender I can't overlook the rules. Your parents will be taking you two home and you're suspended from playing the rest of the season."

"But we're seniors."

"You should've thought about that before doing what you did. If the team qualifies for nationals I'll allow you two to ride the bench but you will not be permitted to practice or play until summer intensives."

"Apologize to your coach." Dad hissed out in Russian

"Sorry Coach. What I did was very stupid and it reflects poorly on the team."

"I'm sorry too. It took two to do what we did and like Xander said it was really stupid." Lily added on

We left after that but before I got into dad's car I went up to Lily's parents

"Excuse me Mister and Misses Chua. I just wanted to apologize to you two directly. I almost cost Lily her future and I feel terrible about it. I also disrespected you two by doing that with your daughter. Please don't be too upset with Lily."

"While I preferred she wasn't active it's something my wife already knew. I'm upset with the whole situation but you two are just dumb kids. Since it sorted itself out I won't hold a grudge. Now go home."

I thanked them and went to sit in the car with dad

"Sorry."

"For what?" He asked coldly

"Making you drive to come get me."

"Mmm." He hummed and pulled out of the parking lot

His anger was rolling off of him in palpable waves. It was almost suffocating.

"How long am I grounded?"

"Xander I'm doing my very best to not lose my shit please stop talking."

"You knew I was fucking and I sorted everything out so why are you so mad?"

"What your mouth! I'm not just mad I'm fucking furious. You shouldn't have involved Elijah."

"Why not? He's the American Mafia so he can do more than you can. Plus he doesn't mind cause he's our ally."

"Favors aren't fucking free Xander! Tyler and Adriana are no longer engaged so he doesn't have to do anything out of the kindness of his heart."

"But Yuri and Lani-"

"We're staying here free of charge that's what their marriage got us. Since we were so sure JJ and Tyler would marry we never drew up terms for Yuri's marriage. Elijah is pissed right now and will do anything to re-establish Tyler's engagement to JJ. What you did was fuck over your sister."

"I didn't know."

"I told you not to trust him last time but you didn't listen. Even if he wasn't going to blackmail us you shouldn't give a mafia man so much fucking leverage."

"I'm sorry I was just scared. Lily was facing statutory charges and they said that you would lose custody of me for knowing I was sexually active. I didn't want to go back to Alessandro so I called Elijah. I was just panicking and did something stupid."

"Calling another mafia leader in a panic makes our family look weak. I could've had those charges dropped as quickly as Elijah. All you had to do was wait and trust in your family."

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry doesn't cut it Xander. You're grounded for a month. You'll also have to sit in on lessons with my father and grandfather since you don't understand anything about the mafia world. So let this be the last time this happens. Am I understood?"

"Yes dad."

I sat on my phone for the remainder of the drive. Dad didn't say anything else either so it was just painfully silent.

I learned that Laurence let it slip to Lenny that Lily and I were going at it in the room when he was FaceTiming her. We highly suspect that the girls called it in which is extremely upsetting. Monday is gonna be a shit show because Laurence dumped Lenny for almost getting Lily arrested.
