Seiya spent six years of his life training in Greece to become a saint and the year he returned to Japan, he had to fight quite a number of battles. I'm not kidding when I say that Seiya doesn't know how to lead a normal life. It was a luxury he never had a chance of enjoying. When we started dating, he had no clue of what he was doing. We kissed and hugged, yes, but we never did anything out of the ordinary. We never even did go on dates and visited each other's home instead, or the orphanage.
We did things that even friends did.
In hindsight, we both were 14 years old at that time and we both never dated before.
It was one of the days in which Seiya and his brothers gathered to talk about their lives and how the other brother was doing. After Seiya talked about how we were doing as a couple, Ichi commented "You don't sound like a couple at all. Are you sure that the two of you are dating?"
Seiya paused and considered his brother's words "What do you mean?"
"Aren't couples supposed to do more lovey-dovey stuff? Like going on dates or something?"
"Dates..." He repeated and was confronted with the fact how bad of a boyfriend he was. Not wanting to disappoint me, he asked Ichi "How do I organise the perfect first date?"
I kind of wish he didn't ask his brothers of all people that question.
The next day he called me and we met in front of a cinema to watch a horror movie. It was Ichi's recommendation because girls were supposed to be scared and hug their boyfriends. Seiya should have known better that I wouldn't be spooked by a mere movie and happily munched on the popcorn we both purchased. Not even Seiya was scared, having been through worse than any of the movie scenes. It wasn't as exciting as Seiya had hoped and he knew that he needed to come up with something better.
After the movie ended, Seiya offered me to go on a walk to wake up from all the sitting. For that he led me to a park that was a hotspot for couples, at least that was what Geki told him. The view was beautiful and we enjoyed getting some fresh air. But considering the fact that we were in a couple hotspot, many couples were around and some did quite embarrassing things. We quickly felt uncomfortable and decided to leave the park.
After his two failed attempts, Seiya decided to be a little more hands on and led me to an arcade that we could visit. Surprisingly, it was Shun's recommendation to just enjoy some games together and to have fun. Sure, it was crowded but the games were actually fun. We both sucked because we both never played video games, but that's why we both could laugh at it together. There were some games like the crane machine that required more luck than skill but Seiya cheekily used his cosmos to win me the plushie I wanted. In Seiya's eyes, our date would've been almost perfect, if he didn't decide to brag with his martial art skills and punch the living daylights out of the boxing machine. We quickly fled the scene but I still feel guilty about the mess we left behind.
I think Seiya was very disappointed with himself that day and as it started to get dark, he knew that he would have to let me back home.
How lucky he was that I sensed his mood.
"Do you want to go on one last trip for the day?" I offered him and he accepted without questioning. Happy, I took his hand and requested "Could you close your eyes for me?"
I managed to lead Seiya by his hand before the sun managed to disappear behind the horizon. When I asked him to open his eyes, we were at the beach and a crimson sky was seen with the most beautiful colours of dawn. What made the scene so beautiful was the fact that I was there with him and gave him the kindest smile I could give "Can you stomach dinner?"
Next to us was a restaurant with the perfect view of the ocean. Feeling much better, Seiya nodded his head "Let's grab something yummy!"
The food was delicious and we were in a mood in which we could enjoy each other's company without feeling awkward about other people. We talked about all kinds of random topics and sometimes we would just watch the sun sinking below with our hands intertwined. As Seiya watched me bathed in the colours of dawn and wished for our date to last even longer, he finally knew what would make our first date more special.
After we ate dinner, Seiya led us to his home to grab a blanket and told me to close my eyes. With ease he carried me around in his arms and used cosmos to reach a beach with no city lights to disturb the view. Carefully placing me back on my feet, he whispered into my ear "You can open your eyes." And hugged my shoulders.
I opened my eyes and gasped in awe at the starry sky that was reflected in the calm ocean. We sat on the soft sand and shared the blanket, hugging each other to share our warmth. We watched the twinkling stars in all their beauty and shared some sweet kisses.
It wasn't the most perfect date but I will always remember that day as one of many.
Because Seiya really tried to create special memories for the both of us.
