If I died in his arms

Nothing bad was supposed to happen, I was just walking down the streets to get to school. Absolutely nothing foreboded the tragedy that struck when a man crashed onto the ground in front of me, creating a big wall of smoke. I lost my footing and as I rolled on the ground, being blown away by a shock wave, I tried to cover my head with my arms. My back crashed against a building, knocking the wind out of me. Gasping, I heard people scream around me and my eyes fixated on a silhouette approaching me menacingly "Such an easy target. No protection at all." A male voice chuckled, making fun out of my misery. He stepped out of the smoke and I was really surprised about his armour. He was fully covered from head to toe, not even his eyes were visible under the horrendous mask he wore. His whole form reminded me of a devil with claws instead of fingers. One slash and I would be cut to pieces.

Realising the danger I was in, I quickly regained my strength in my legs and bolted into an alleyway, trying to outsmart my attacker. Watching me stumble out of his gaze, he cracked loudly into laughter "Are we playing hide-and-seek now?! This is much more fun!"

I tried to stay level headed, making my way through alleyways to eventually escape his gaze. But ultimately I tried to buy time, so Seiya or any other saint would come to my rescue.

By that time a saint simply had to sense the attacker!

I tried to take a route that would bring me closer to Seiya's apartment but not even halfway there, I barely dodged a punch shot my way.

He didn't even try to hit me properly...

In my panic, I stumbled to the ground and didn't have the energy to quickly get back up on my feet, I simply was too afraid to do so. Slow footsteps approached me from behind and the enemy asked me mockingly "Have you finally lost the energy to run?"

My whole body was shaking and I only had the courage to turn around and to face imminent death.

I don't know for how long I was laying in that alley but the pain was so big that I couldn't even think of simply closing my eyes. The toxin in my body made me burn up and my stabbed abdomen was gushing blood, I even had to spit some out of my mouth. I wasn't aware of the battle happening next to me, only that my boyfriend, the love of my life, was finally there and carefully placed my head on his lap. Because of the poison within me, I wasn't sure whether I was hallucinating or not, so I tried to call out Seiya's name, trying to touch him with my bloody palm. The moment I did though, I seemed to lose much more blood, making Seiya panic "Don't talk! I will bring you to a medic!"

The enemy mocked Seiya, telling him how no doctor would be able to neutralise the poison and even if they did, I was already too wounded for any medical assistance.

I was already dying...

Not wanting to lose hope, Seiya picked me up in his arms, starting to carry me to a hospital of the Grand Foundation "Just hold on a little longer. I'm sure someone can help you."

I knew it was a futile attempt, since I could barely feel the pain anymore because of the blood loss. Still, Seiya would feel much more horrible sitting around and waiting for my death than trying to find a cure.

I didn't want to die but if I had to, I would rather do it in Seiya's arms than in some alley.

I was slowly rocked in Seiya's arms and listened to his words. With a forced smile on his lips, he kept on rambling "The Grand Foundation has excellent doctors! They took such good care of me and my brothers and we almost always were fully healed. I'm sure someone knows how to stop a bleeding like yours. Just stay awake until we make it there." Still, despite his words, he didn't move in the great speed a saint was known for. Deep in his heart also knew that I was already on the brink of death.

He couldn't save me.

My head was in a position that allowed blood to not reach my mouth anymore. Clearing my throat, I whispered "Seiya..."

Tearing up, Seiya came to a stop and looked down at my pitiful form. I was in pain and cold because of the blood loss.

I was suffering.

"Seiya..." I called out for him again, voice clearer this time "I love you."

Sobbing, Seiya fell to his knees and pressed his forehead to mine "I love you too. I love you so much... I don't want you to go." His ears fell to my cheeks, clearing their path as if they were also my tears.

I felt strangely cold and I lost my energy to keep my eyes open. Still, I could feel the warmth coming from Seiya's body, making me feel safe "So warm..." I don't know if it was simply me hallucinating or not, but the moment I started to transit to the world of the dead, I could see something sparkling. A bright, blue light was surrounding Seiya, coming from deep within him "Ah... Is this your cosmos?" I wondered out loud, nuzzling his warm skin "It's so bright... I don't feel scared..."

Trying to keep the sobs away, Seiya kissed my nose and caressed my head "Don't worry. I will be here with you. You don't need to be scared." He then kissed my forehead and placed my head on the crook between his neck and shoulder "I will keep you warm... I won't leave you behind."

"I'm sorry..." I whispered because I was the one that left him behind. With my last words, I breathed out a life in me, finally dying in the arms of my love.

Before the battle ended, Seiya returned with my corpse in his arms, not dropping me once when he dealt the finishing blow to the man responsible for my death.

He didn't leave me behind, just like he promised.
