At about 1 am in the morning, eda was in her kitchen, drinking coffee spiked with vodka. She had taken a shower a while ago and put on some pajamas after forcing her legs to work again. It wasn't bad, just that pins and needles feeling.
However, the window opened, and then Cassandra, Liam, and nakusa climbed inside. "Shhh.. I'm like 75 percent sure, eda is in her room, so we have some time" nakusa whispered. "Okay!.. Liam! Stop looking at the ducks!" Cassandra whisper-screamed. "Bite me, bitch" he responded. The 3 teenagers shut the window, then were about to sneak to their room, we eda said. "Boo," they all jumped letting out mild screams. "Holy shit, owl lady.. why are you up at all hours of the night!?" Nakusa asked. "That's none of your business, what I'm curious about is where you three have been" Eda replied. "Uhm.. Y-you know, around" Nakusa answered nervously. "Hm, funny. I told you guys to be back, by 9:30 at the latest" eda said and took another swig of her alcoholic coffee. "Uhhh.. We-" nakusa was cut off by Cassandra blurring out. "We had a hit!" Then covered her mouth. "Damnit! Cass! Why!?" Nakusa asked. "I'm sorry! She's glaring in my soul!!" Cassandra whined.
Eda walked over to Cassandra and gave her a death glare. "What did you three do?" Eda asked, then tilted her head. Cassandra whined, and tried not to say anything, then blurted out. "WERE HITMEN AND GOT HIRED FOR A JOB!" Once Cassandra said it eda stopped glaring and Cassandra lay on the floor in mental pain. "Fuck you, Cassandra! Why can't you keep your mouth shut!??" Nakusa yelled. Eda chuckled. "Listen to kiddos, I'm not going to punish you for being late, because I'm not really your mother, but I want you three safe, and unharmed, so please, next time be home when I tell you to" eda explained. The three teens nodded and were about to leave when eda said. "And one other thing" eda said before they were out of sight.
Nakusa, Liam, and Cassandra looked at each other curiously. "Don't take another life. Not unless your lives are in danger, or I give you permission" Eda said. "Oh. Well. Alright," Cassandra agreed, and the other two nodded.
Weeks go by and in some way. Lives have changed, turned around, and some have been destroyed or taken. And some. Might just get better.
A few hours away, a part of the city not too many people found livable, Due to crime. Vivian was walking down the street then stopped, and turned into an alleyway. She leaned on a wall, smirking. "Terry~ guess who I ran into" she beamed, with a sickening tone.
Terry sighed and looked at Vivian's face. "Didn't I tell you to leave her alone? You put that girl through life-breaking hell and she still didn't kill herself, give her a break" Terry scolded. "I haven't seen my precious little toy in years, Terry. I think that's a break enough" Vivian cooed. Terry sighed. "So what? You want more nicotine patches?" He asked. "Nah, I have a better plan for edalyn Cawthorne. She's a special one, resilient, and has a hell of a spirit. Il be breaking that butch apart bit by bit" Vivian said, as her smirk widened.
Meanwhile, Lilith was with odalia, working on her case. "And do you plan to sue for full custody as well?" Lilith asked. "Of course! I don't want my perfect children around him or that dirty ska-" Lilith glared at odalia coldly. "I understand you've been hurt, and I'm very sorry, but do not call a close friend of mine, such a derogatory term" Lilith scolded. Odalia scoffed and folded her arms. "So full custody, alimony.. And the full cost of the house, and the few properties.. The minimum I can get to you would be... " Lilith paused to calculate everything correctly. "670 thousand dollars, not including child support," Lilith said. "Perfect. And how much child support would he have to pay" Lilith asked. "Well. According to your income, if you were to win primary custody, he's have to pay about 8000 per child, and if he won, you'd pay about 95000" Odalia looked shocked. "Why would I pay more!?" She asked. "Well, your half of the company does rack in more profit. So" Lilith muttered
Odalia sighed. "If that's the only way, then I suppose it'll have to due" Odalia agreed. "Thank you," she said, then left.
Lilith did feel bad for odalia, but there was really nothing she could do about it.
However, she didn't have much time to think, because your boss came into the room. "Lilith, I need to talk to you," he said, Lilith looked up a little worried. "Yes? Is something the matter?" Lilith asked. "We need you to also look into this case, that was filed," he said and handed the files to her. Lilith looked at it and saw someone was suing eda for putting, nakusa Liam, and Cassandra into public school, and charging the teenagers with 3rd-degree manslaughter. "Y-you.. Want me to defend this person?" Lilith asked
"Yes, is that a problem?" Her boss asked. "Well.. Yes. These kids belong to my sister, I can't do this to her" Lilith said in a worried tone. "Lilith, I believed you were smarter than that" he sighed. "Sir.. You seriously can't expect me to help someone sue my sister, and potentially put her children in prison" Lilith said, hoping to reason with him. "That way I see it is either you take the case, or you might have to find somewhere else to work," he said, which shocked Lilith. ".. I beg your pardon. " Lilith muttered. "I give you till tomorrow to decide, have a good day" he said, and left. Lilith sat there in shock, and as rare as the occasion was, she didn't know what to do.
Darius came in a few minutes later, and upon seeing her poorly hidden frazzled mental state he asked. "Woah, Lilith, you okay?" Lilith looked at him, almost in tears. "N-no, not really!.." She muttered, as her hair fell over her face slightly. "What happened?" Darius asked in a concerned tone. "I-.. I might get fired" Lilith said, as a lump in her throat grew.
Darius looked shocked, and Lilith went on to tell him everything that just happened. She started to cry a little because she's spent years growing up to her current position.
Darius comforted her, that's when Lilith said. "If I went through with this.. Eda would never forgive me" Darius sighed. "It's.. Really up to you lils" he said in a soft tone. "You could take the case.. And your right, there's a chance eda would never talk to you again, but you guys
We're able to get through a 6 year fight.. So I'm not sure if never is the right word" darius said with a reassuring smile. "But.. If you do refuse, I say you take eda's advice.." He said with an smile. Lilith chuckled softly. "And what would that be?" She asked. "If your going out, go out with a bang" Darius said, his voice sounding confident. Lilith smiled, and nodded. "Thank you Darius.. May I ask you something?" Lilith asked. Darius nodded "why.. Did you do what you did?" She asked, hoping to not offend him.
Darius looked like he was expecting the question, but he respected Lilith to mu h to lie to her. "Actually..i.. It happened by mistake, I went to a bar after work, and next thing g I remember I was with him.. It wasn't supposed to happen again, but.. Slowly our mistake turned into a really bad habit" he explained. "I see.." Lilith muttered. "Thank for your help" Lilith said, and combed through her hair. "No problem" Darius agreed, and stood up.
Lilith went home for the day, but not before throwing her badge at her boss, and glaring at him. "I wish you best of luck with your case, because nobody is reckless enough to take it" she said sternly, then left.
