Piper and Alexandra are no longer together, 8 years have passed, now Piper is happy with Larry, a writer. They were sitting on the couch, intent on light conversation, when a loud knock on the door interrupted their moment. The two exchanged a worried look and got up to see who it was.In front of them were several men in uniform. With stern looks and a firm voice, one of them uttered the phrase that would change everything: "Piper Chapman, you are under arrest." As the handcuffs closed around her wrists, the policeman admonished her, "Anything you say may be used against you in a court of law."A week later, Piper found herself in a courtroom, her heart in turmoil. The judge, in an authoritative tone, told her the sentence: "Your sentence will be 15 months for carrying a suitcase full of money that was allegedly invested in drugs." The sentence resounded like a shot in her mind, and after the hearing she was driven away in a pickup truck, bound for Litchfield Penitentiary.Within those cold, dark walls, Piper met Alexandra Vause, the woman she had once loved with all her heart. Although time had passed and taken much from her, Alex was still incredibly beautiful. The two women looked at each other, laden with memories and feelings that had never ceased. Although they had not spoken to each other for years, one day fate forced them to exchange a few words. Each conversation was like a punch in the stomach: the pain of unrequited love came back overbearingly.During a game of cards, as emotions intensified, Alex unexpectedly grabbed Piper's hand, bringing it toward him. Piper felt a shiver down her spine: she missed him so much, but at the same time she was aware that she could not give in to these temptations because she was now with Larry. In her new prison environment, Piper made friends with Red, the very determined cook, and Nicky, the electrician with a lively personality. Once, during the Thanksgiving feast, Piper and Alex went wild at the dance. But the joy was interrupted when Warden Healy put her in solitary confinement, accusing her of homosexual behavior. Fortunately, she was released the next day and ran to Alex, finding her sitting alone on the bed. Without a second thought, he took her hand and held her in a hug, seeking comfort in the bond she had never broken.
An impulse led her to call Larry, her voice trembling with adrenaline and fear. When he answered, his tone was icy and incisive:
"I asked my father the other day and he told me that it was Alexandra Vause who mentioned your name in court. How does it feel to be in love with the woman who ruined your life?"
The question hovered in the air, sharp as a knife, complicit in a truth difficult to face.
