Piper had finally fulfilled a lifelong dream: to marry the woman he loved with all his heart, the woman he longed for at every moment. It had been a long time since then, four years to tell the truth, and now the wait was about to end. There were only two days to release Alex, and Piper could not contain the emotion that pervaded her. Finally, after all that time, the woman he loved was coming home. The day of release was approaching, and Piper's heart was beating fast. After a long day of work, she came home, lay down on the bed and, overwhelmed by emotion and fatigue, fell asleep. She woke up the next day, rested but anxious; she had taken the day off to pick up Alex.He dressed quickly and, with his heart in his throat, got into the car. She couldn't think of anything else, and the adrenaline ran through her veins like a river in full flow. When she finally saw Alex coming out of the prison, tears began to fill her eyes. She stopped for a moment, her heart beating like crazy.From a distance, he saw Alexandra and other inmates go out. The bag that Alex was holding fell on the ground; words were not needed. Alex spread her arms and Piper began to run towards her, when she reached for her, Piper jumped in her arms, as if the world around them had stopped."You did it, you're here," Piper whispered, tears running down her cheeks. Alex squeezed her hard, noticing her emotion. "I promised you that I would come back, Piper."Gradually, Piper's breath calmed down, Alex, with a smile that lit up her face, turned her into a hug and stole another kiss.Once they got in the car, the way home seemed short. When they finally arrived, Alex stopped to admire the house they had shared. Every corner evoked memories of how happy they had been, and now, finally reunited, they could start again. Love was the only thing they really needed, and now, together, they would face any challenge life might bring.
