Love is Pain

A School Monday

It was a grey Monday, and the streets were wet after a rain that seemed to never stop. Andrea and Jane had just woken up, the sound of the alarm had become their worst enemy since they started high school.

"Andrea, is it already now?" asked Jane, still with her eyes closed as she stretched under the covers. "I don't want to go."

Andrea, more practical, got up without making a fuss, but with the same look of those who are not entirely convinced to face the day. "Come on, come on. Once you get to school, it'll be easier. And then, high school isn't so bad."

Piper entered the room, already ready and with a smile on her face, as if she was used to that little chaos which recurs every morning. "Girls, are you ready for another day of school?"

Alex, who was getting ready to go out to work, gave them a pat on the back. "You're right, high school is a bit of a leap in the dark, but you've already adapted to the big time. Come on, I can't wait to hear what you're gonna find out today!"

The twins left their home, walking in the rain, but the world seemed a little lighter thanks to their presence for each other. When they arrived at school, the other faces of boys who were dragging themselves in with the same resigned look mixed with theirs, but there was also a light of curiosity that never stopped shining in their eyes.

Mathematics Lesson

Mathematics, one of the most feared moments of the day. The strict and rigorous professor wrote on the blackboard formulas that seemed incomprehensible. The twins exchanged worried looks, especially Andrea, who hated being overwhelmed by numbers.

"It's not that I understand much of it, but we can't give up," Andrea whispered to Jane, who was sitting next to her, hoping the explanation would become a little clearer.

Jane, with her usual calm, did not get upset. "Let's try to concentrate, okay? If we don't understand, we ask."

At the end of the lesson, Andrea raised her hand, visibly uncertain but determined. "Professor, I don't understand how this exercise is done. Could you explain it to me?"

The teacher looked at her for a moment, as if she were surprised, then smiled and patiently explained step by step. When Andrea was able to make the correct calculation, she turned to Jane with a smile of victory.

"See? Nothing is impossible. Just ask when you don't understand."

Recreation

The recreation bell rang, finally freeing the students from the gray walls of the classrooms. Andrea and Jane headed to the courtyard, a corner of the world where the laughter of their classmates seemed never to end. They sat on a bench, each with their own sandwich, while watching the other boys.

"I spoke to Clara today," said Jane, slowly chewing on her sandwich. "I think she's cute, but a little shy. I think it'll take some getting used to."

Andrea, who had just made a new friend, nodded. "I spoke with Luca, the one from our scientific group. He's really brilliant, but he doesn't have many friends yet. Maybe we can work together on some projects."

It was a day full of new experiences, small moments that marked the transition from childhood to adolescence, but the twins felt lucky, even if they were changed every now and then, putting them to the test.

"It's strange, sometimes I feel like I'm growing too fast," said Andrea, looking up at the sky above them.

Jane smiled. "I feel like we learn something new every day. It's nice. And then, we have so much time to discover ourselves."

Science Lesson

Science had always been a subject that had fascinated the twins. The young and passionate professor was able to make even the most complex topics interesting and engaging. They were studying ecosystems that morning, and Andrea was looking forward to learning something new.

"The Earth is a living organism," said Professor Brown, as she passed through the benches with a smile. "Each ecosystem has its own balance. We must take care of it."

Andrea raised her hand with enthusiasm. "So every little change we make can affect our entire environment?"

"Exactly," replied the professor. "Every action has consequences, and learning to live in harmony with nature is one of the most important tasks we have."

The twins exchanged a smile. It was strange, but also inspiring, to think that what they did, every choice they made, could have a bigger impact than they thought. School was not only a place to learn, but also a place to start understanding the world and their place in it.

Back at Home

At the end of the day, the twins returned home, tired but satisfied. The bus trip seemed short, but that transition moment between school and family was always what they loved most. Once they got home, Alex and Piper welcomed them with a warm hug.

"How was today?" asked Alex, with a curiosity that never seemed to settle.

"Easier than we thought," said Andrea, while Jane nodded. "We've made progress, really. And met new people."

Piper smiled, her heart filled with pride. "I'm glad you're settling in so well. Every day is a step forward."

It was another day that was adding to their growth, one of those days that seemed simple but were actually milestones on a path that would last a lifetime.
