The smoke was thick, suffocating, filling every corner of the warehouse. Maya Bishop lay on the ground, just regaining consciousness after passing out from inhalation and exhaustion. When she opened her eyes, what she saw wasn't Andy Herrera but the familiar and terrifying face of Lane Bishop, her father.
"No! No, stay away!" Maya screamed, her voice twisted with fear.

Andy cautiously approached, worried about her friend's mental state. "Maya, it's me, Andy! You're safe now."
But Maya didn't hear her. The vision of Lane consumed her, and every fiber of her being screamed to fight back. With a cry, she got up and struck Andy forcefully.
"Maya, stop!" Andy shouted, trying to block the blows without retaliating. "I'm not him!"
But Maya wasn't listening. Her fists continued to land on Andy's face and body, driven by panic and years of repressed anger. Andy tried to restrain Maya's hands, but her teammate's strength, combined with her confused state, was overwhelming.
A particularly hard hit to the temple made Andy stagger. "Maya, stop... it's me..." she whispered before collapsing unconscious to the floor.

The sound of Andy's body hitting the ground froze Maya for a moment. She looked around, her breath ragged, and slowly reality began to seep back in. She looked at Andy, motionless on the floor, and panic turned to horror.
"Oh my God... Andy!" Maya exclaimed, kneeling beside her. "What have I done?"

Carina, who had re-entered from the outer perimeter, rushed into the warehouse. "Maya! What happened?"
Maya turned to Carina, her eyes brimming with tears. "I... I don't know. I thought it was him. I thought it was my father."
Carina knelt beside Andy, checking her pulse and observing her closely. "Her pulse is weak, but it's there. We need to get her out of here now."

Maya tried to help, but her hands were trembling too much. Carina took charge. "Maya, breathe. This isn't your fault. Right now, we just need to help her."

The infirmary room was silent, interrupted only by the sound of Andy's slow, steady breathing. Slowly, she began to stir. Her head throbbed, and a dull ache spread through her body, but what she felt most was something warm and damp on her shoulder.

When she opened her eyes, she saw Maya sitting beside her, head buried in her hands, her forehead resting against Andy's arm. She was crying, her shoulders shaking with muffled sobs.

"Maya..." Andy murmured, her voice barely audible.

Maya's head shot up, her eyes swollen and full of tears. "Andy!" she exclaimed, moving closer and wrapping her in a desperate hug.

Andy stiffened for a moment, surprised by the strength of the embrace, but then her weak arms moved to hold Maya. "Hey... I'm here... I'm okay..."

"No, you're not okay," Maya replied, her voice breaking. "I hurt you... I did this to you." She pointed to the bruises on Andy's face, the pain evident in her eyes.

Andy shook her head slightly. "Maya, it wasn't your fault. It never was. You were scared... you saw your father, didn't you?"

Maya nodded, the sobs still present. "I didn't realize it was you. I was there, but I wasn't... and then I saw you on the ground, and I knew what I'd done. Andy, I'm so sorry..."

Andy lifted a hand to gently touch Maya's face. "Stop it, Maya. It doesn't matter what happened. I'm here. You're here. And we're still in this together."

Maya lowered her gaze, holding onto Andy even tighter. "I don't know how you can forgive me."

Andy gave a faint smile, ignoring the pain coursing through her face. "Because I know what you were facing. And because I care about you, Maya. I'm not going to let you face this alone."

Maya said nothing, but her embrace tightened as if she feared losing Andy again.

Carina entered the room a moment later, pausing at the doorway. She saw the two women embracing, and relief washed over her face. "Are you okay?" she asked softly, her voice gentle.

Andy nodded slightly. "I took a few hits, but I'm hard to bring down."

Maya turned to Carina. "I don't know... maybe I don't deserve to be here after what happened."

Carina approached, placing a hand on Maya's shoulder. "Maya, this isn't the time to think about that. Andy has forgiven you. Now, you need to learn to forgive yourself."
