The villa was located in a quiet residential area, surrounded by tall pines and offering a breathtaking view of the Seattle mountains. The house was a dream: a large, modern building with expansive windows that let in all the daylight, and a garden seemingly designed for long summer evenings together. It was a home that promised new memories, a symbol of change and hope.
The moving truck was already parked in the driveway when the family arrived. Andrea was the first to step out of the car, her gaze sweeping over the house.
"It looks like something out of a magazine," she said, almost in disbelief.
Jane, standing next to her, nodded, even more stunned. "It's huge... and look at that terrace! Imagine the sunsets we'll see from there."
Piper, smiling, stepped out of the car with the keys in hand. "We looked so long to find the perfect place," she said, gesturing for them to come closer. "I think this house will be special for all of us."
Alexandra approached the girls, wrapping an arm around their shoulders. "It's a new beginning. For all of us."
They entered together, crossing the threshold with emotion. The interior was even more beautiful than they remembered from previous visits. The main living room was spacious and bright, with a high ceiling and large windows overlooking the garden. The movers had already arranged the furniture: the beige leather sofa, the rug Piper had so carefully chosen, and the bookshelf filled with Alexandra's volumes.
"Look at this kitchen!" Jane exclaimed, running towards the open space connecting to the living room. The marble countertops sparkled in the daylight, and the appliances were state-of-the-art. "I feel like I'm in a cooking show!"
Andrea burst out laughing. "Are you done being a tourist? We still have all these boxes to unpack!"
Piper placed a box on the kitchen counter and watched her daughters with loving eyes. "We'll have time to organize everything. Today, I just want you to enjoy our new home."
Alexandra, already exploring the garden, called out loudly, "Come outside! You need to see this view!"
The girls rushed out to find a wide, well-kept green space with a small pergola and a barbecue area. But it was the view that took their breath away: the city stretched below them, with the Space Needle standing out against the blue sky.
"It's perfect," Andrea murmured.
"It's more than perfect," Jane added. "It's home."
The day passed with laughter, unpacking boxes, and brief breaks to imagine what their life there would be like. Alexandra and Piper, with their contagious energy, worked hard to make the move less tiring. They prepared an improvised lunch with sandwiches and drinks, sitting together in the center of the half-empty living room.
"It's strange, isn't it?" Jane said, biting into her sandwich. "Leaving everything we knew to come here."
"A little," Andrea admitted. "But I think it's worth it. Here, we can really start over."
Alexandra nodded. "You're right. This is our place now, and we'll make it a home full of happy memories."
Piper gave her a fond look. "And don't forget the main reason we're here: your dream. Firefighter school. This is just the first step."
The girls exchanged a knowing glance, feeling both excitement and a bit of nervousness grow inside them. Becoming firefighters was an ambitious dream, and they knew they'd have to work hard. But they were ready.
