She woke up before Alex, the sun was filtering through the curtains, It was so nice to watch her sleeping, her serene face and hair laid in a loving chaos on the pillow. He loved her so much that the idea of losing her terrified him. Alex was the person he wanted to build a family with, have children, and dogs running happily in his garden.
With a sigh, he tried to get out of bed, his body still marked by persistent pain. He clung to the wall to seek stability. He carefully put his foot on the ground; the pain was felt, but the determination to surprise Alex for his birthday is holding up his physical pain.
He reached the kitchen and made up Nicky's number. After some ringing, Nicky's friend's voice sounded from the kitchen: "Hey Chapman, how are you?"
"Good, Nicky. I just have a little pain in my ribs, but it's bearable."
"I wanted to ask you a favor, Nicky."
"Tell me, Chapman."
"Can you take me to a jewelry store? Tomorrow is Alex's birthday and I want to buy her a gift."
"Sure, it takes twenty minutes and I'm in your house." The call ended with a friendly tone that relieved the growing tension in her.
He began to dress, choosing a suit from Alex, who seemed to carry with him a scent of affection and intimacy. He put on his shoes and wrote a note to Alex, warning her of his departure, then grabbed the crutches and left the house, trying to move quietly so that Alex would not wake up. and took the elevator.
When she saw Nicky's car approaching, a smile lit up her face. Nicky parked and stepped down to help her get on. In less than ten minutes they reached the jewelry store. Nicky, always ready to hold it, held her arm as they entered the shop.
"Sorry," asked Piper to the attendant, "do you make custom necklaces?"
"Sure," the shop assistant replied with a friendly smile.
Piper looked at the options. He stopped on a plaque and, with the right amount of emotion, asked to engrave the phrase "Alexandra vause will you marry me?".
After paying, Nicky helped her out of the shop, his face reflecting the happiness of having done something special for the love of his life.
When we got home, Nicky went up to say hello to Alex. Piper followed her into the kitchen as she hid the necklace in a safe place. Shortly afterwards, they found themselves in the living room chatting, laughing and sharing light moments until Nicky announced: "Come on girls, I have to go. It was a pleasure talking to you."
With a loving hug, Nicky left, leaving Piper and Alex alone. They decided to watch a horror movie, and Piper, a little scared, took shelter leaning on Alex's chest. The sweetness of that moment was enveloping; Alex's hands laid gently on her hair, while Piper's head gave in to his caresses. The tranquility conquered her and, shortly after, she fell asleep.
Alex kept watching the film, immersed in the plot, but her heart was all for Piper. When the film came to an end, she gently picked up Piper and took her to bed, covering her with a warm blanket. She slipped up beside her, embracing her with love.
