Chapter 22 - Stalker Or Guardian?

 It was the next day and we had gone back to our normal routine.

I had woken up but Fran seemed to already be awake, she seemed upset and I had a feeling that she was still upset at how weak she was compared to other adventurers.

I would teleport her into the Demon Wolf's Garden but it is still too dangerous for Fran and I haven't gotten the opportunity to explore the place yet either.

"You alright?"

"No."

She seemed in a bad mood...

I should treat Fran to something sweet to cheer her up. She's only eaten spicy foods so it might be nice to treat her to something on the other end of the spectrum.

After I had gotten Fran ready for the day, I slipped back into my blade body and we left the in. We began the day by heading off to some stores to buy some ingredients for some foods. We wanted to head out, buy a few things, and head to the guild for a couple of quests.

It was the daily routine we had at this point and nothing got in the way of it.

"Master, what should we get?"

[Not sure, there's some stuff we should get like sugar.]

Gluttony didn't hold much sugar since Tempest consumed it rather quickly and at large rates so we didn't build up much of a stockpile of it compared to other foods.

Not to mention I was slightly curious about the types of sweets that were made in this world and I don't believe I fed anything like candy to Fran before. It would be nice to make something sweet for her...

Maybe a lollipop?

As we searched through the markets, we picked out some high-quality sugar and bought it along with a few other materials. While we went between different stalls, a certain one caught my eye as well.

[Oh! They have Candy Floss here!?]

"Candy Floss?"

[Think of it like sugar that is made into long lines of string being wrapped around a stick. It's really good.]

I remember the time, the floss just melted into your mouth, and that sugary goodness...

"Master..."

[A-ah right. You should get some and save a bit for me as well.]

"Nn. Ok."

We had gone over to buy some Candy Floss from the store vendor.

Unfortunately...

"Oh my! What a coincidence."

<Notice. That is a lie.>

What exactly was Amanda doing there?

She was selling Candy Floss... but this place didn't exactly look like her store...

"..."

Fran simply ignored her and left on her way to the guild.

"Wait!~"

We continued walking until we reached the guild.

We greeted Nell and began to pick out our quests.

The three quests we picked out were harvesting two different types of Herbs and delivering some materials from the Saber Tooth General over to a certain address in a different part of the city. All the monster-hunting quests were taken today as well so Fran couldn't hunt anything today.

As much as it was still annoying for Fran, these quests were easy to deal with quickly since Great Sage was able to analyze all the surroundings and find the herbs in moments. The delivery one seemed to just be vacant because the reward was rather low but our goal was quest completion rather than for the reward in general.
