"Hey! Randell! Nice to see you come back safe and sound!"

"Good to see you too."

"... who's the girl?"

"Oh? Yeah I offered her a free ride with me into the city after she saved me from pretty large groups of goblins."

"Goblins... ugh... we've been getting too many reports about those bastards recently ever since the crisis in the Demon Wolf's Garden..."

"It's that bad?"

"No confirmations yet from any higher-ups but if the goblin populations are anything to go by, something terrifying must've scared them all away from there."

Yeah... I caused quite a bit of a problem...

"Hopefully, whatever that terrifying thing is, stays far away from us."

... yikes...

"So. The little girl got any sort of payment? Can't just let anyone into Alessa."

"Oh I know, I offered to pay for her entry into the city. Here."

"Oh, alright."

Randell handed the guard over some cash from the caravan before being allowed to move into the city. Although before we went in, we were handed some permits that looked to be temporary judging by the expiration date slapped onto them.

I'm guessing being caught in the city with an expired one was grounds for arrest or being forced out of the city. It felt strange...

[So... this is Alessa?]

We made our way into the city and sure enough, it reminded me of the early days of Tempest. The only difference being the giant barrier surrounding the city and the gigantic walls surrounding the city. Looking at the barrier, it is designed to keep an eye on whatever sorts of monsters might enter or exit the city at any given time. The barrier only seems to trigger at a certain point which reminded me of the cities like Central, Rondo, and Lura.

Once you get inside, it becomes impossible for the barrier to detect you. Although there seems to be a load of ways to circumvent the barrier. Still, it was like this city was designed as a fortress as if it were constantly attacked on a repeated basis!

Was it just monsters? No because if it was just them then they would have no need for the permits...

Randell eventually stopped at a rather average looking sidewalk and dropped us off at the area.

"Nn. Thanks."

"No problem, although be sure not to get caught again."

"No problem."

Randell gave us a hearty farewell and also gave us directions to the shop if we ever wanted to come over. He also gave us a map as well of the city. He was an awfully kind man but now...

[Alright, we've made it in but what now exactly?]

(Nn... don't know.)

As we began walking around the streets and looking at the various carts along the street, something became apparent to me.

[We are going to need money.]

There was always just simply working a job but Fran only had a temporary permit and I didn't have a permit at all really. I severely doubted anyone would just accept work that easily... although there was that Adventurer's Guild that was recommended before and Fran's dream was to get stronger.

It might be the best idea to make Fran an adventurer. After all, we had a load of materials...

[Fran.]
