Johanna's POV
I'm too scared to speak. The house is dead silent. I don't know if Finnick or Annie is home. Apparently they don't go out very often. And they told me that they'd be there once I arrived from District 13.After President Snow and Coin was killed, I was still in bad shape in District 13. I was still terrified of water. When I was doing my test, the water made me freeze and I ended up being a sobbing mess. It really sucked.
Now after tons of pleading, the hospital has allowed me to leave. They instantly asked me where I was going to go. That's when we made plans for me to live with Annie Cresta and Finnick Odair.
It wasn't ideal. For starters, I wasn't even sure if they were willing to allow me to live with them. But Finnick being my best and only friend agreed to letting me stay. Both him and Annie were very happy about me living there.
Meanwhile I wasn't so sure.
The door was unlocked when I tried to open it. In my opinion, walking into your best friends house isn't breaking an entry. "Finnick, Annie!" I called out nervously. "Is anyone home?"
"Johanna?" I heard the familiar voice of Annie Cresta. Footsteps came from upstairs. There's Annie, running down the stairs. She's wearing a blue dress with her hair tied back. She looks beautiful. "Johanna you're here!" She says, pulling me into a hug.
"Yeah," I say weakly, hugging her back.
"How was the train ride over? Did you have anything to eat?"
"It was fine. And I ate on the train," I answer, looking around the room. "Where's Finnick?"
"He's upstairs. FINNICK!" Annie screams for Finnick. "Johanna's here!" She taps her foot impatiently. "I'm really glad that you're staying with us." Annie squeezes my hand, smiling gently at me.
"Me too," I say, giving her a smile in return.
Footsteps come from upstairs. "I'm coming Annie!" It's Finnick. He runs down the stairs, stopping right in front of me. "Hey Jo," he says, quickly hugging me. I hug him back, feeling kind of shocked from that unexpected hug. My cheeks turn bright red.
"Hi Finn. Thank you for letting me stay with you two. It means a lot," I tell Annie and Finnick.
"No problem!" Annie replies joyfully. "Dinner's going to be ready in two hours. I'm going to be making a great feast for us tonight. You're going to love it."
"You don't have to do that." All of these nice offers are making me feel dizzy and uncomfortable. I've never been offered that many nice things in my lifetime.
"No. It's no problem," Finnick grins.
"Finnick, give Johanna a tour of the house. She needs to feel at home here." Annie nudges Finnick to the living room.
"Definitely," says Finnick. "Follow me Jo." He grabs my hand, leading me into the living room.
The house is decent sized, but it has that cozy feeling to it. The rooms are small, almost like a cottage. It makes me feel welcomed. Finnick shows me all over the house, showing me my bedroom last. He drops my suitcase at the foot of the bed. "Your bathroom is over there," he says, pointing towards the door. "And you can put your clothes into the drawers and closet. Oh, and you can decorate the room however you want it."
"Thank you, but I didn't bring that much stuff," I say, biting my lip. The room is bigger than my old room in the Victor's Village. It has an ocean view of the sea. You can see boats sailing in the distance, probably fisherman doing their job.
"Then we'll buy you a few things silly." Finnick winks at me. "I'm going to check in with dinner. We'll call you down when it's ready."
"Okay. Thank you Finnick!" I call out when he leaves the room. I sit down on the bed, looking up at the ceiling.
Oh Johanna, what are you going to do?
