Johanna's POV
The next day after the dreadful bath and shopping, there's a lot of tension between me and Annie. She's barely spoken any words to me since yesterday when she saw the nail marks I left all over Finnick. I don't blame her for not talking to me. Though it is making me feel like s fuck up more than ever.
"Finnick," Annie calls out after we've had ten minutes of silence at the kitchen table. "I'll find out where he is," she mutters. I have a feeling she's talking to herself, not me. She stands up and walks down the hallway. It's only 8:53 AM and I already want to go back to bed.
"Right here." Finnick and Annie walk Into the kitchen. Finnick yawns, quickly kissing Annie on the check and messing up my hair.
"Really Finn," I say angrily, trying to fix my hair. "It was just cleaned yesterday."
"But I cleaned it," he says smugly. "Today we should all have a family lunch."
Annie's fork falls off the table, clanging onto the ground. "Family lunch?" She repeats, looking at Finnick like he's psycho.
"Yes," he says, glaring at her. "A family lunch. We could all go to to Seafood Delight's for lunch. They have really good food there. And I promised Johanna we'd take her there like two months ago."
"Okay," Annie says, glancing at me cautiously. God, I wish she wouldn't treat me like I'm a threat.
"See? It's going to be fun." Finnick squeezes Annie's hand. "Right Jo?"
I freeze when he says my name. "Right," I say, trying to sound happy. I've been trying to improve my attitude a shitload ever since last night. Finnick said he loved my singing, which made me feel slightly better.
"That's the spirit." He takes all of our plates into the kitchen.
"I'll do the dishes!" I run towards the counter, turning on the tap water. Annie miserably walks down the hall, disappearing upstairs. "Um, Finn?" I sigh.
"Yeah?" He sits beside me on the counter. I hop on it beside him.
"About yesterday.." We both sigh when I say that. "Is Annie like... Really mad at me or something? Because I can tell she is. And it's um.. Making me feel really bad. I mean--" I'm starting to sound selfish. "I know I deserve it, but I really wish it wasn't like this."
"It's not selfish Jo." He shakes his head, grabbing my hand. My heart skips a beat. "She's just a bit freaked out about it. That's all. She'll be back to normal soon."
"Oh." That somewhat makes me feel better."I'll give her an apology soon."
"She doesn't need one," Finnick says, squeezing my hand. "I know you didn't mean to do that and that's all that matters, okay?"
"Alright." I sigh, leaning my head against his shoulder. "When am I supposed to have another bath?"
"The doctor said every two days. So tomorrow." Finnick stares at his arms.
"Fuck," I mutter, my chest tightening. "God, Finnick, what if I actually hurt you though?" I cover my face with both hands.
"You won't Jo. Don't say that." He pulls me into a hug. I wrap my arms around him tightly, allowing tears to fall down my cheeks.
"You don't know though," I whisper. "And I can safely say you'll be getting more of those nail marks." I want to cry at the thought of hurting him more.
"It's okay Johanna," Finnick hugs me tighter. "You can't help it. I understand."
"Lame excuse."
"It's not a lame excuse. You can't control yourself when it happens. After all of that... Who could blame you?"
"Annie," I suggest, instantly regretting it.
"Well, there's Annie," he glumly agrees. "I'll talk to her about it after lunch." He kisses my cheek, leaving my face burning bright red. "Get ready. We're leaving in thirty minutes."
