Finnick's POV
The next day after promising Johanna I would talk to Annie.. There I was right before Johanna's bath, trying to find Annie.
I find her in the living room by herself reading a magazine. "Hey," I say, sitting across from her in a chair. "We need to talk."
She glances up, looking at me surprised. "Okay. What's up?"
"Listen Annie." I sigh, trying to figure out how to word this. "I don't know if you can tell or not, but Johanna is really sorry about what happened."
Annie's eyes darken when I say her name. "I know," she says coldly. "What about it?"
"Well," I say. "I think she can tell you don't like her at the moment. And I can see it too. She looks really upset about it." I shake my head.
"Well you try watching someone hurt the love of your life like that!" She snaps angrily. "I'm sorry Finnick, but it really upset me."
"And the bath upset and hurt Johanna way more." Annie sighs, looking defeated. "She's really sorry about it Annie. Can you please forgive her? I already have. Heck. I never even needed to. I'm really proud of her."
"Proud?" Annie looks at me like I'm mental.
"Yes, proud." I glare at her. Why are we arguing so much all the time? "She conquered her biggest fear. Imagine getting tortured in water and going back into it. How would you feel Annie?"
"Like that's," she mumbles.
"See?" I try smiling at her. "Please, just forgive her. She never meant to."
"Okay!" She waves her hands in the air. "I understand. She did go through a lot of horrible things in the Capitol. I had to watch her..." Annie trembles.
"That must've been... God. I couldn't imagine seeing that." I shake the idea out of my mind. "Anyways, I'm going to give Johanna a bath now. I'll see you at dinner time." I kiss her and head upstairs.
Johanna's POV
I scream furiously at Finnick as he lowers me towards the boiling bath water. "FUCK OFF FINNICK!" I scream into his ear. "LET ME GO!" I can't even think. My mind is telling me: get free, run, get free. But I can't.
My nails dig deeply into his arms. "JOHANNA STOP!" He yells, dropping us both into the bathtub. I fly under the surface, my eyes widen open. I fly out of the water, flailing my arms everywhere. Finnick grabs my waist, wrapping his arms around them.
"LET GO!" I cry out, clawing at his hands. Finnick winces at every scratch, mumbling swear words. "FINNICK PLEASE!"
"I can't," he whispers, pulling me tighter to his body. The tears break from my eyes. I cry my eyes out, wailing like a newborn kitten. He holds me there, giving me the saddest look I've ever seen.
"Finnick, l-let me o-out." My voice won't stop cracking. I think I'm about to pass out. My whole body is about to give in and pass out. Then my mind snaps. I'm a wild animal. I attack him, throwing my arms and legs everywhere. Finnick is screaming, howling like crazy.
"FINNICK WHAT IS GOING ON UP THERE?" I can hear Annie's yells from downstairs. Footsteps are running up the stairs. Now the hall.... She's banging on the bathroom door. Finnick locked it. "FINNICK!" Annie screams. I can hear her muffled crying.
My arms lock around his neck, squeezing the life out of him. I'm out of control. Finnick is gasping for air, swatting at my arms. "FINNICK. FINNICK!" Annie is screaming her lungs off behind the door. I release my arms, trying to stand up.
"JOHANNA PLEASE," Finnick yells. "STOP!" He pins me to the bath tub, my face nearly touching the water. "Please, it's okay," he whispers to me.
I break again into crying. My sobs are mixed with cries from the flashbacks of electric shocks and being drowned. It sounds like I am dying. I am dying. My hands drop to my sides. Everything shuts down. And now everything I just did now hits me like a bullet.
"Finnick are you okay?" Annie cries from behind the door.
"Everything is okay," Finnick says, staring at me from below him.
I cry like a newborn child. Finnick stares at me with disbelief. I'm almost one hundred percent positive he's sending me back to thirteen tonight. I need to be put in the hospital for this, not in his house. I could kill him...
"Finnick." I manage to speak between sobs. "I didn't mean..." Blood is dripping from a cut on his neck. A dab of blood drops onto my skin. It makes me cry harder. "I did that... I fucking.." Words aren't even coming out now. I hurt my best friend. I nearly strangled him.
Annie was right. I'm a monster, or whatever she called me when I wasn't in the room.
"Johanna shh," Finnick pulls me to his chest. I cry harder into his shoulder, wrapping my arms around his waist. "It's okay. Everything is going to be okay. I promise."
Annie's still crying from behind the door. Finnick doesn't seem to notice. "I just... Almost... Killed you!" I sob. I don't even care that I'm in the water. I just almost killed my best friend. Finnick.
"WHAT DID SHE DO?" Annie roars from behind the door. I sob even harder knowing that Annie is going to make sure I never see him again.
"Johanna.." Finnick releases me from the hug. His hands rest on my cheeks, wiping away the tears. "You didn't mean to."
"I NEVER MEAN TO? ITS ALWAYS THE SAME EXCUSE. I NEARLY KILLED YOU! How can I live with myself?" My voice cracks. His face looks like a blur now. I have zero energy now. My body drops and I collapse into the bath water without flinching.
Then everything goes dark...
