Finnick's POV

We finish dinner quickly. Me and Johanna are having a happy conversation while eating dinner. Meanwhile Annie is silent, quietly eating away. She looks at Johanna nervously every once and a while. I'm starting to wonder what's going on.

After dinner, Johanna is washing and drying the dishes. She's actually singing too while doing them! I watch her on a stool, smiling like crazy. I love knowing that she's feeling better. Especially after what happened earlier in the afternoon. The fresh cuts she left me still burn though. But it's so worth it to see her smile and sing.

"Finnick." My happy thoughts are stopped when I hear Annie's whisper. I turn around, looking at her. Annie's eyes are wide open. She looks freaked out. "Can I talk to you in the hallway privately?" She whispers.

I glance at Johanna. She's singing away happily, drying a plate. It makes me smile so huge my cheeks burn. I turn around to Annie, trying to act more serious. "Yes," I agree.

We walk down the hallway, stopping at the foot of the staircase. "What's going on?" I ask her. Annie looks really freaked out.

"How do you expect me to act when I find it Johanna almost strangled you in the bathroom?!" She snaps at me.

I blink at her in surprise. "Annie," I say, placing my hands on her shoulders. "She didn't strangle me. You know what happened to her. Heck, you were there with her in the Capitol!"

"I know," she huffs. "But look what she did to you." Her gaze lands on my arms. She looks like she's going to either cry or go on a rage.

"It's not like she was going to kill me. She got tortured in water and got electrocuted. She broke down sobbing."

"Finnick I know what happened to her! I saw it happen once." She closes her eyes, mumbling a few words I can't understand to herself. "I just think Johanna isn't safe."

For once in my lifetime I want to kill the love of my life. "Safe?" My voice cracks. "Johanna's perfectly safe! Look at her!" I pull her out of the hallway. We both watch Johanna behind the corner. She's singing while washing the dishes. After drying a glass, Johanna does a cute twirl and places it on the shelf. I can't stop smiling while watching her.

I pull Annie back into the hallway. "Look at her Annie! She's safe. Johanna's made so much good progress already in the past few months. It's going to take a bit of time. Okay?"

"But still..." Annie mutters. "Whatever. But if it happens again--"

"It won't!" I reassure her. "And if it does, I know that she'll be just fine. We're talking about Johanna Mason. The girl who's sassy and bold and daring!"

"Like I didn't know that!" She snaps. "Look. I just don't want you to get hurt Finn. You're all I have."

"I know." I pull Annie into a hug. I'm still really mad at her for thinking Johanna is a dangerous threat, but then again Annie is still in a critical position after her games.

"Okay," Annie sighs. "I'm going to take a shower." She kisses my lips quickly and walks up the stairs.

"Got it," I mutter, walking back into the kitchen. Johanna is drying the last dish, still singing beautifully. I watch her from behind the corner, smiling so big I think my cheeks are going to fall off.

When she's not sarcastic or sassy or angry, Johanna looks so beautiful. Her happiness is making me more happier than I've ever felt this month. She's finished the dishes now. She hops onto the counter, swinging her legs back and forth, still singing. And she has a beautiful voice. It's gorgeous. I can't stop smiling.

How could anyone think she's dangerous? I shake my head, thinking about what Annie said. She's so wrong. Johanna would never hurt anyone without meaning too. And they're not that deep of cuts. She was just terrified. Heck, I probably would've killed her if she tried giving me a bath after I got tortured.

"And I was--" her singing stops. I look at her. Her eyes are set on mine, her cheeks turning bright red. God, she looks so embarrassed.

I start laughing. "Why did you stop?" I ask, walking out from behind the hallway.

"You scared me. And why were you spying on me?" She hops off the counter, narrowing her eyes at me.

"Because your voice sounds like a dying gazelle," I sarcastically say. She hits me playfully. "I'm kidding. You sounded beautiful."

"Sure," she snorts. "You really think my voice sounds good?"

"Obviously. You sounded amazing. And you looked like you were having a great time too while doing it." I cheekily grin at her. "Don't lie, you know you loved it."

"Oh shut up Finnick!" She laughs. "So what if I enjoyed it?"

"Then that's good. Because I like it and I really hope that continues." I pat her head, wondering off into the living room.
