Finnick's POV

Johanna passes out in the taxi as soon as we're inside. She curls up in my lap and is fast asleep instantly. It makes me laugh. Her snores fill the silence in the taxi care. "Man, she knows how to snore," the taxi driver comments on her.

I laugh. "I know."

"Is she your girlfriend?" The taxi driver turns to the right on the road. We're driving down the ocean route home. The scent of sea salt fills the car when he opens the window.

"Ah no." I feel really sad when I tell him that. My eyes gaze down at Johanna. She's still holding my hand. I really want to kiss her still.

Whoa.

Wait.

Finnick.

What.

I want to kiss Johanna? I try shaking the thought of my head. She's my best friend. I could NEVER do that. Then we both would have no one in our lives... well, I have my parents. But she has no one. I'm all she has left.

"A best friend perhaps?" The taxi driver suggests.

"There you go," I confirm with him. Johanna lets out another loud snore. I chuckle. "What a cutie," I mutter to myself.

"Not so much of a friendship to me," the taxi driver mumbles. I roll my eyes at his comment. But is he right?

We pull into the small driveway ten minutes later. I gently shake Johanna's shoulder, whispering her to get up. "But Finnick," she moans. "I don't want to get up. So comfortable..." I move her body upwards so she's sitting in her seats. She shoots me a look and gets out of the car.

"Thanks man," I say,  giving the taxi driver ten dollars.

"Anytime. You have a good night." He takes my money.

"You too."

Johanna stumbles out of the taxi, falling onto her knees. I shut the car door, kneeling down beside her. "Are you okay?" I ask her, looking down at her knees. They're bleeding a little.

"Ouch, that fucking hurt," she mumbles. "But yeah. I'll just let it stay like that."

I roll my eyes at her. "It'll get infected. Come on. I have band aids in the kitchen."

I get out my keys and unlock the door. Johanna opens it, slowly walking into the house. I shut the door behind her, locking the door. She hops onto the counter, lifting up her dress to look at the scrapes. Now they're looking a bit more bad. "Shit," she mutters.

I get out the medicine drawer and place it onto the counter. "Here we go," I say, taking out the band aids and cut cleaner. I place them beside her, opening the lid. "This is going to sting a little bit," I warn her.

"Okay," she says nervously.

I pour a bit of the liquid onto each knee. She winces, grabbing onto my free hand. I give her a warm smile. She releases my hand. I put on the lid and open the band aid from the wrapper. "That way they'll heal better," I tell her. "You don't want scars on your knees." I place the two band aids onto her knees. "All better."

"Thank you." She hops off the counter, looking up at me. God, there's that overwhelming feeling. I feel like my whole body is being lit up by electricity when I look at her.

"You're w-welcome," I stutter.

She gives me a strange look and starts running upstairs. "LAST ONE TO THE TOP IS A ROTTEN EGG!" She yells.

"Oh, I don't think so!" I race down the hallway, flying up the staircase with her. I push her out of the way, making it to the top. "I WIN!" I yell in her face.

"You cheated you asshole." She frowns at me, crossing her arms.

"No, I was playing fair and square." I do my best imitation of a five year old. "Look who's the rotten egg now." I mess up her tied back hair, pulling out the clips. It falls out, framing her face perfectly.

"Oh come on we worked hard on that," she complains, looking at me sadly. "It looks awful down."

"You liar. No it doesn't."

We walk into our bedrooms, closing the doors. It's almost strange that we don't share a bedroom together. I would never dare suggest sharing a room with Johanna though. She'd think I'd want her or something insane like that.

I change into pajamas and brush my teeth. I'll take a shower tomorrow morning before making breakfast. I make a mental note to wake up extra early so Johanna can't make me breakfast.

I walk out of my room and knock on Johanna's door three times. "Come on!" She calls. I open the door, walking into her bedroom. "Thank God you knock," she says. "Some people just barge in. That's what happened in the hospital."

"Those people were ignorant assholes," I say, thinking about what Johanna went through there. She was all alone until she moved into a room with Katniss.

"I'm gonna go to bed." Johanna yawns, rubbing her eyes.

"Me too," I say, walking over to her. "Goodnight Jo."

She looks at me like she's sad in a way that I'm going. I don't even want to go. "Can you stay?" She barely says it, but I know she said those words.

"Yeah, of course." Johanna turns off the lamp, crawling into the covers. I wonder what's going on in her mind right now. Is she thinking about tonight? The capitol? Her family?

"Goodnight," I whisper to her, squeezing her hand. I can barely see her face in the dark.

"Goodnight Finn." I kiss her forehead and fall asleep in seconds, still holding her hand.
