Nathan pulled Alexander into one of the alleys.
"You are alive?" Nathan asked, shock much visible on his face.
"Yeah, I am." Alex mumbled out the words. His body stumbled over a little before he was caught by Nathan.
"How are you... I mean they shot you and you fell in the river. How could you...I mean..but..how.."
"How was I saved?" Alexander helped him complete his sentence.
"Yeah..I mean...yes."
"The bullet hit my arm so I was conscious for a while and meanwhile I reached a bank. Next when...."
Alex couldn't complete his words before the ground slipped and he fell. He heard Nathan shout but soon he lost his consciousness.
When he woke up again, he found himself in a bed, his shirt taken off and a blanket draped over him. He was in a room which was so brightly lit that it hurt his eyes. The room supposedly belonged to a hotel.
He sat up, balancing on his arms, his body aching everywhere. He let out a groan as he stretched his body out.
"You are awake."
Alexander looked up to see Nathan standing at the door, his hands fished at his pockets.
Alexander suddenly felt conscious of his own body and tried to cover himself up with the blanket.
"Oh come on, you have everything I have. There's nothing to hide."
Alex narrowed his eyes at him.
"That doesn't mean I go on flashing around random people."
Nathan flushed, a pink tint covering his cheeks and his neck.
"I didn't mean that." He mumbled and turned around to face the wall.
Alexander grabbed a shirt hanging from a nearby shelf and covered himself.
"I never got to know your name." Nathan peeked over his shoulder.
Alexander took four long strides to reach him. Nathan reached upto his shoulders and he was looking down at him while he has to crane his neck up to meet the stare of Alex.
"Alexander. Alexander Hall."
Nathan frowned at the name. He scrunched his eyebrows at him, his eyes tensed as he tried to remember something.
"Alexander Hall from Moore's College?"
Now it was Alexander's time to frown.
"Yes? How do you know?"
"You don't remember me? It's me Nathan Carlton. The junior from first year who helped you get the number of Athena Stone."
Alexander's mouth curled up as the dirt from his memories were scraped off. Then a smile lit on his face.
"Nate!"
He hugged him.
"Yep."
Alex patted his back with a force which made Nathan go choking.
"Damn! You were so in love with her. Where is she now?" Nathan asked, the smile never leaving his face.
Alexander's lips thinned into a line as he looked dead into his eyes.
"Athena is dead." He let the word out.
Nathan looked at him, wide eyed.
"Ho.."
Nathan suddenly remembered what happened that day when Nathan tried to free Alex. The man beside him had talked about his wife whom they had killed.
He wanted to confirm it, but he couldn't bring the words to his mouth.
