"Oof!"
Alexander resurfaced back on the water, gasping for breathe. The night was dark with only the stars illuminating the sky but not enough to light up the dark waters.
He couldn't swim much as blood was still coming out of his wounds, so he decided to try to look around for land. Not very far away, he could see lights twinkling in the distance. He decided to try to swim towards it but his wounds were making it difficult. After trying a lot, he was much nearer to the lights.
But suddenly a strong current swept over him. His head hit a rock and he was unconscious again.
~••°°°••~
Darkness.
All he could feel, see and sense was darkness.
He tried to move his body, to fight back into his consciousness but he felt a tight binding force prohibiting him from even moving an inch. His body ached and he felt like numerous needles prickling into his body. His head felt heavier than stone but somehow it pained him so much that he wished to never wake up.
Slowly, his senses started coming back one by one. The air around him started getting lighter as more sound cracked through it and reached his ears. His body was now feeling light and now he slowly opened his eyes.
His vision got cleared slowly and then he saw he was in someone's house. In the small lights of the house that twinkled like a north star to a lost sailor, he could see that the roof was made with dried grass while the walls were made with dried mud and stones. Several one-sided gaps were made on the walls which had small twinkling bulbs in them. Several bulbs hung in long ropes from the rod that went across from one wall to the other. The overall ambience was so peaceful that Alexander thought of sleeping back.
"You are awake?" A strong feminine voice caught his ears.
He looked beside to see a woman dressed in a brown dress that dragged along the floor, holding a candle. Her shawl covered the upper part of her body and the light from the candle made her brown eyes shine like gold. Her curly ginger hair that cascaded till her waist, glowed that looked like setting sun.
The woman was beautiful, Alex thought to himself.
"Wa...ter" Alex's voice came out low.
"Wait."
The woman walked towards him and lowered her face to his face.
The honey and lavender scent entered his nose.
"What were you saying?"
"Water." Alex's voice, this time was a bit clear.
"Ofcourse, wait a minute."
The woman took a jug from the bedside table. She held his head on her palm and leaning forward, slowly put the jug near his lips.
"Drink."
Alexander chugged down the water as if it was the first drop of water in the year long drought.
After Alex was over, she placed it down on the table again.
"You have been out for a week. I found you near the riverside on a rock. There were some wounds on your chest and when I inspected it, I found a bullet. I have treated your wounds but you need to rest for some days more so that you could regain your strength."
