Bolin awoke in bed to Opal's arm draped over his waste and her head resting on his shoulder. For a moment, he'd thought it had just been a dream. They'd wanted to do this for so long, but Opal had her duties around the world with the other Air Nomads. Just getting to see her felt like a rarity, an uncomfortable reminder of his misguided time following Kuvira. He'd almost lost her forever because of that. But Bolin, the big softie that he is, didn't hold any resentment. He knew how important her work was to her and the world. Still, it was nice to finally have enough time to spend the night together. Bolin felt Opal stir awake. She looked up at him and smiled.

Opal: Morning.

Bolin turned over to wrap his arms around her.

Bolin: Morning.

He let out a happy sigh.

Bolin: How did I get so lucky?

His eyes widened at what he'd just said.

Bolin: I mean... not like get lucky get lucky! I just mean... I uh, I mean I am lucky to, that we uh...

Opal: Bolin?

Bolin: Yes?

Opal: Stop.

Bolin: Sorry.

Opal giggled.

Opal: It's okay. We're both lucky.

Bolin: Yeah. Yeah, we are. Both lucky. Both lucky. I mean not that I think you're...

Opal put her hand over his mouth before he could finish his sentence and send himself into another overthinking rabbit-hole.

Opal: Go back to sleep Sweetie.

After she moved her hand off of his mouth, Bolin did as she said and drifted back to sleep with a smile on his face.

After a couple hours, the two began to get dressed. Sadly, this was but a brief meetup in Zaofu before she returns to her duties.

Bolin: So how long until you have to leave?

Opal: This afternoon. I have to be at the Southern Temple by tonight.

After getting fully dressed, Bolin walks toward the door.

Bolin: Welp, I better go get Pabu from...

When he opened the door, he saw Suyin with her arm raised as she was about to knock. Bolin screamed.

Opal: Mom!

Opal pulled her suit on as quick as possible. Bolin began to jitter and laugh nervously.

Bolin: Good morning Mrs. Beifong. How are you on this... fine morning?

Suyin raised an eyebrow.

Opal: Look, Mom, I'm so sorry! We just...

Opal was interrupted by her mother's laughter.

Suyin: Sorry? For what?

Bolin: For... um...

Suyin: Oh, relax you two. You're both grown adults doing something grown adults do. Honestly, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.

Opal: Mom?!?!

Suyin: Look, in all seriousness, if the two of you are happy and being responsible, then I have no problem with whatever you do.

Suyin grabbed the collar of Bolin's shirt and brought him face to face with her, a scowl on her face.

Suyin: And you are treating my daughter with love and respect, correct?!
