GISELE AWOKE TO THE PLEASANT SOUND OF SHRIEKING NEWBORNS, she glanced over at the clock on her nightstand.
5:20 in the morning. Wonderful.
Gisele just loved being waken up before the sun with the sound of wailing babies.
Wait, those were her wailing babies.
She let out an aggravated groan and begrudgingly rolled out of bed. Gisele opened the bedroom door, only for the cries to grow louder.
Wow, they really had great lungs.
Gisele rubbed her eyes as she walked down the hall and into the living room. When she took he hands away from her eyes, she saw Emmy kneeled in front of the couch, both hands holding a bottle and feeding two babies. Amelia slowly pacing back and forth across the room while bouncing a shrieking infant.
"Amy."
Amelia turned around and faced her sister, "Hey."
Gisele walked over and hugged her big sister, "Hi."
"Sorry, we tried to keep them quiet to let you sleep in."
Gigi waved her off, "It's fine. I should be getting used to this, right?"
They were her kids.
Amelia took note of how sad her sister looked, like someone had kicked her puppy, "Hey, you're not alone. We're here for you."
Gisele nodded, "I know."
She stepped past her sister, going over to help Emilia, "Morning." she greeted her friend as she kneeled down and took one of the bottles from Emilia to help feed the baby.
Emilia smiled at her, "Hey, you look better."
"I feel a little better."
"Still hungover?"
She shook her head, "No, I just feel extremely exhausted."
"You can sleep in the car and on the plane."
Gisele groaned, being confined on a plane with not one but three newborns sounded like torture. She was honestly thinking of ditching her sister and Emmy for a commercial flight with multiple layovers.
But that would make her a horrible mother, but she would be leaving the babies in the care with two highly trained doctors.
These next few days were going to be long and torturous.
An hour and a half later, the three of them began cleaning the apartment. Not because they wanted the deposit back but because it was a complete pigsty, there were multiple big piles of dirty clothes all around the apartment. Dirty dishes pilled up in the sink. Dirty bottles and used spit up rags thrown every which way.
Emmy and Gigi hated doing laundry, so that left Amelia with the task, which she didn't really mind that much.
While Emmy started on the kitchen, mainly tackled the dishes, she had to wash them by hand because there was no dishwasher. That left the living room to Gigi.
Gisele quickly gathered the dirty bottles and gave them to Emilia, then went back and picked up all the used rags before going to Amelia, dropping the rags onto a pile near her sister.
She went back to the living room and stared at the babies. The floors were a mess and needed to be vacuumed. Gisele debated actually using the vacuum, they were exposed to constant noise thanks to them being in the NICU for a extended period of time. And the three infants were currently sleeping blissfully with the tv turned up to a very loud amount.
