Rutger gave me where I would be able to ask Val out to make it the most memorable. I decided to also set up a picnic and movie night for us. Since I already planned on bringing some blankets with me now all I needed to do was to bring some pillows as well. Since I now know what the plan is for the date tonight I let Val know to wear something casual and not uncomfortable. Although I told her to dress casually and comfortably I still decided to bring an extra pair of my sweats and hoodie just in case Val wore something and wanted to change out of it.

Now that I had most things in place I still needed to pack the food and drinks for us. I decided on some pizza and some water. I also picked up some reece's, sour patch kids and a handful of other candy. Instead of me picking her up Rutger was going to pick her up to allow me time to set the picnic up. It was four o'clock and I had a couple hours to spare before our date. I was nervous which I've never experienced before, especially with asking someone to be my girlfriend. Maybe it's because all my previous girlfriends in high school were only with me because I was getting recruited by D1 schools or that I was the starting quarterback. With Val she didn't care if I was the starting QB or not. She cared about me as a person and she also understands my schedule and sports. I can probably thank Rutger for that part.

Once I set everything up I texted Rutger to let him know that he can bring Val whenever they both were ready. He instantly responded saying they're on their way. I started to become nervous again, but I hope that with everything in place that things go the way I'm hoping it goes. It didn't take long before they arrived. I saw that Rutger had Val close her eyes. I went to the passenger side and let her know it was me before holding her hand and helping her out of the car. I walked her to the trunk where it was facing the ledge so we could better see the sunset and had her take the blindfold off. When Val took it off she gasped. She looked at me and then back at the set up with a huge, bright smile on her face.

I helped Val into the trunk and let her comfortably sit before getting in after her. I opened the pizza box and grabbed the plates and cups. I poured both of us some water and then grabbed her a slice of pizza. As we were eating I also opened my macbook pro and connected it to my phone hotspot so we can watch Netflix. I allowed Val to choose what we were watching. She decided to watch Queen Charlotte. When we finished eating dinner. The sunset started. I paused the show. As we were looking out at the sunset Val sat in my lap. I put my hand on her inner thigh. As we were sitting like this I finally asked her "Val I know we just met but a couple of days ago, but I haven't felt like this with anyone before. You make the tough days brighter and happier. I don't worry that you're with me just because I'm the starting quarterback. So Val will you be my girlfriend?" She looked shocked, but nodded. I leaned into her and kissed her. It was passionate, but a quick kiss. We both leaned back and continued to watch the sunset.

As we were enjoying our time together I took some pictures. I noticed Val did too. Once the sunset was starting to fade I reopened my laptop and resumed the show. I mostly paid attention to how Val was intrigued with the show and the way she smiled at all of the small romantic things that the characters did for each other. I opened the candy and held the bag out for Val. She grabbed some candy and then went back to paying attention to Queen Charlotte. It was getting late so I decided it was time to go back home. When everything was put away I opened the passenger door for Val and helped her in. Once we were both in the car I started the drive home. As I was driving back to campus I noticed that Val fell asleep. I kept driving around for a little while before deciding to take her back to my place so I wouldn't have to wake her up.

Once we arrived outside my place. I parked the car and went to her side. I picked her up and she wrapped her arms and legs around me like a koala. She went back to sleep almost immediately. I took the elevator up to my floor. When we were outside of my apartment I was able to hold Val up with one arm and take out my keys. Once we made it inside I took Val to my room. Luckily she wore comfy clothes so I didn't have to worry about waking her up since she was in my hoodie and sweats that I gave her. When she laid down in my bed she cuddled into my pillow. I went to wash up before getting into the bed next to her. As soon as I laid down with her she let go of the pillow and cuddled into my side instead and placed her head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around her waist and kept her close to me.

Before closing my eyes I set an alarm since I knew we both had to wake up early. I had practice and Val had work. Once it was all set I finally went to bed. I fell asleep much quicker than I normally do which I think is due to Val being with me.

It was the next morning and the alarm woke me up. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and turned the alarm off. I looked next to me and Val was still asleep. I gently rubbed her back up and down and whispered to wake her up. When she was finally awake she clung to me and whined for five more minutes of sleep. I wished I could give her five more minutes, but we both had to go to our respective practices. I decided to let her sleep a little bit more so I can get ready for the day. I brushed my teeth, washed my face and changed into a clean pair of sweats and a t-shirt. When I came back out Val was already awake and sitting up on her phone. I let her use the bathroom and handed her a spare new toothbrush I had. Once she was done with the bathroom I offered her a clean pair of clothes. I let her borrow one of my nike michigan warm up shirts from last year, another pair of my sweats, and one of my old IMG hoodies. She put the sweats and hoodie she was wearing in the hamper that I pointed her to. Once she was ready and changed we headed out to the car. I ordered breakfast from a nearby breakfast place. We both ordered a breakfast burrito and I also ordered Val a coffee.

After picking up our breakfast I drove Val to the Yost. I parked and opened the door for her. I waited to drive away until I saw her walk into the building. When she walked through the doors of the Yost I saw Rutger waiting for her with all her bags. They gave each other a hug. Rutger waved at me and looked back at Val. They continued talking and walking further into the building. Now that I knew Val was safe I made my way to the AL Field House for my practice.

Practice wasn't very long since it was morning practice right after a game. Once we finished doing recovery, going through film from the game and doing some basics, Coach let us go. We went to see the nutritionist and afterwards I had to go see Kevyn to discuss how I'm doing mental health wise. Seeing him has always helped so I'm not against seeing him now. The meeting with him was short. We discussed how I was feeling with the media attention getting larger and with my performance from the last game. After talking through everything I went back to the locker room and took a quick shower before changing into my clean clothes. I headed out of the building for my class of the day.

Class was pretty boring since we were reviewing from the last class. I looked over my notes from last week. The professor also started going over new materials. I was sitting next to some of my guys. In between paying attention to the professor and texting each other I also made sure to check my messages from Val and my family. Val finished with work today until our afternoon practice so she was with Rutger at his house with some of the boys. Once class was finished I went back to my place and made myself some lunch. Since I prepared my meal earlier, I decided to eat one of the meals that I just had to warm up. When it was done being warmed up in the microwave I took my phone out and went through the photos I took of our date.
