Today is the day that I would be dropping off Val's ticket to her. I also included a couple of extra tickets in case she wanted to bring some of her friends. I wanted to make this a nice surprise so I went out to the store to buy a blue gift basket. In the basket I included some of my hoodies, sweats and a couple of my Michigan shirts that had my number and name on it. On top of these items I put the tickets and a gatorade for her. I assumed that she was at the Yost Arena for work this morning so I texted her asking when she'd be back at her apartment so I could drop everything off to her.

JJ: hey i know you're at work right now, but let me know when you're back home so i can drop off the ticket to you

After texting her I decided to go home for a bit and visit my family. When I pulled into the driveway and walked into the house I gave my mom, dad and sisters a hug. Once I finished giving a hug to all of them I could tell by the look on my sisters faces that they were about to ask me something that they knew I wouldn't want to talk about. Caitlin started first "so JJ who was the girl in your instagram story at the sushi restaurant." Morgan just shook her head agreeing with that question. I tried to ignore the question and deny it but my parents were also interested.

"Guys nothings going on. Why do you guys want to know so badly?" As soon as I finished saying that I saw that Val responded.

Val: hey J i'm still at work now, but i have a short break right now. i'll be finished with work around noon, but i may be at Kayleigh or Rutger's place. i'll text you and let you know once i'm 100% sure where i'll be. Also Luke says hi.

JJ: luke as in luke hughes

Val: yeah that luke, he's my best friend other than Kayleigh and Rutger

JJ: oh awesome, i hope you're also getting close to the rest of the guys on the team

Val: i am they're all amazing people. Hey J i gotta go back to work, but i'll talk to you later

JJ: okay princess have fun, stay safe and text me when you're home

As I was texting Val I didn't realize that my sisters and mom were looking over my shoulders and reading the text messages between her and I until I heard all three of them awwing. I turned to them and my cheeks were blushing. I knew after mom, caitlin, and morgan all saw my messages with Val there was no way they'd leave me alone without me telling them about Val so I took the loss and started to explain everything to them.

"So Val is the social media manager for the hockey team and football team. She just transferred to Michigan and I met her when she wasn't able to get into the Field House since her ID wasn't activated yet so I let her in and walked her to coach's office. We had lift the other day and as usual I got there early and saw Val there setting up her cameras to take pictures and videos. Since she was finished before we had to start we sat and she told me a little bit more about herself. She is Rutger Mcgroarty's little sister and is best friends with his girlfriend Kayleigh and his teammate Luke Hughes. Rutger also is on the hockey team which is why she's friends with Luke and is getting closer to the hockey team. She used to play lacrosse at BC but she's gone through some traumatic situations and no longer plays. That's what I know about her so far and I've told her about you guys as well. I'm sure the part you're most interested in will be that Val and I went to dinner together last night and that's when I also asked if she wanted to come to the game this weekend and get dinner together afterwards."

They all were smiling from ear to ear. Mom finally spoke looking in my eyes "sweetheart I've never seen you this open, carefree and happy before. She sounds like a wonderful girl. If you're this happy about just texting her and spending time with her I know we'll all love her."

After the talk with my family we decided to put on a movie. It was Caitlin and Morgan's turn to choose what we were watching so instead of a movie they decided to turn on Wizards of Waverly Place. As we were watching the show I heard my phone ringing. It was a facetime call from Val I decided to pick up.

JJ: hey princess

Val: hey J. just calling to let you know I'm on the way with Rut and Kay to Rut's house

JJ: okay i'm with my family right now, but if you're going to be there for a while then you can send me Rutger's address and I'll go there to bring you your ticket

Val: okay perfect. How was the drive to your family's house

JJ: it was good not too long of a drive since there wasn't a lot of traffic

Val: glad there wasn't a lot of traffic. and i'm glad you got there safely. it sounds like you guys are watching something together

JJ: of course especially since you told me to drive safe. Yeah it was my sisters' turn to choose what we are watching and they chose wizards of waverly place

Val: alright well I was just calling to let you know where to drop off the ticket, but i'll let you go and enjoy your time with your family. Text me or call me when you get here and drive safely

JJ: okay i'll talk to you soon. i'll text you when I get there. be safe and have fun with your brother princess

When we hung up they were all looking at me like I grew three heads. I was so confused. Finally my dad broke the silence. "JJ you're down bad for her already and you've only met her a couple of days ago." I didn't know how to respond because what he's saying is the truth so I just nodded my head to agree with him. After agreeing with my dad Caitlin, Morgan and mom all squealed in excitement that another girl will be joining our family soon.

After spending a couple more hours at home I figured I should be heading back to campus for film study with the team later tonight and to also drop off the tickets to Val. I hugged my family goodbye and told them I'd call them tomorrow after practice.

I hopped into the car and started the drive back to campus. It took about half an hour to get back and I drove to Rutgers house since Val sent me the address. I grabbed the gift basket and rang the doorbell. I heard the door open but it wasn't who I was expecting. It was two guys who were wearing Michigan hockey gear. One of them looked similar to Val so I'm assuming that he was Rutger, but I didn't know who the other guy was. Finally the other player yelled "Val someone's here for you!" She came to the front door and saw me. She wrapped her arms around my waist and gave me a hug. I quickly hugged back. We stayed like this for a couple of minutes enjoying this hug. I pulled away and handed her the basket.

After handing her the basket I looked at the time on my phone and saw that I had to head to the Field House to do a film study. "Hey princess sorry to run out like this so quickly but I have to get to the Field house to do film study with the team. Look through the basket and I'll call or text you later okay." Val nodded and gave me another hug goodbye before I hopped back into my car and went to the field.
