When I felt my phone ring I looked to see who it was. Once I saw that it was Rutger I picked up the phone and spoke in a whisper.

Rutger + Val

Val: hey bear

Rutger: hey how is it at JJ's place?

Val: it's okay, haven't really talked to anyone. you're the only one i've talked to since finding out about Rhett

Rutger: okay that's okay. you know none of us are going to pressure you into talking. we just want to take care of you and make sure you're okay. have you eaten anything recently?

Val: i've eaten some granola and yogurt, but that was about a day or two ago. since then i haven't eaten anything

Rutger: nugget please try and eat something for me. even if it's only a couple of bites

Val: i don't want to eat though i don't think i can keep anything down

Rutger: would it help if the boys and i ate with you over facetime that way your mind isn't focused on the food, but on us and our conversation

Val: i think that would help me

Rutger: okay i just texted all the boys to come down and join us so they should be with us any second

Once the boys were all in the living room they grabbed their own food and sat down around Rutger's phone. As we remained on the phone I grabbed my own food. I didn't start eating right away. I just played with my food and joined in on their conversation. Rutger noticed I wasn't eating and gave me a look quietly asking me to eat some food. I looked at my food again and started taking a couple of bites of food. When I started eating all of the boys were smiling. I even looked up at JJ and saw that he was smiling at me. They were all so proud of me.

While we continued eating, the boys kept making me laugh. I didn't even realize I ate most of my food for dinner. I was so full since this is the biggest meal I've had in a while. I cleaned up my food, and continued talking with the hockey boys. Ethan, Mark and Luca kept asking me questions about how things are going with JJ. They wanted all of the details. I chuckled at them and told them I'll make a groupchat with them and tell them everything as well in person or on facetime.

However, my happy mood was ruined. While we were on the phone Rutger heard their doorbell ring. He got up and opened the door. Luckily, he left his phone in the living room with Luke, Ethan, Mark, Luca, and Adam because the name I heard made my blood run cold and freeze. It was Rhett. I am unsure of what to do. I held my breath and hoped this would end. "Rutger, I know she's in here. You can't keep her from me. She'll end up back with me eventually and once she is I'll break her down and punish her to the point of no return. No matter what I'll find her and now you see that I'm fully capable of showing up at any point or time. Also tell her new toy that I hope he trains her correctly and has fun with her while he can." After he said that I heard someone punch Rhett and the front door slam shut.

My mind was all over the place. I looked up at JJ and the rest of the Mccarthy family. They were all shocked at what they heard and I was embarrassed and terrified. Once I focused back on my phone Rutger and Luke were back in the center of the camera. I could tell that Rutger was stressed, worried, and angry. I didn't mean for this all to happen again when I moved to Michigan. I was trying to establish a plan of action in my head to try and limit the amount of people who would get hurt or be used as collateral damage. Rutger and I decided that I would be staying with him and that for right now we would try and get myself to be able to attend online classes so that it would limit how often I would be outside. The boys also all agreed at least two of them would be with me at all times no matter what. Finally, they all agreed to ask coach if I would be allowed to sit on the bench with them to continue to ensure my safety while having the entire team with me.

While on the phone I didn't realize that I was crying. JJ pulled me onto his lap and held my phone for me while talking with my brother. "Rut that sounds like a plan. I'll send an email to my professors asking to be allowed to take classes from home. But what do I do when you and Luca, and Luke have tutoring and Adam, Ethan and Mark have class. I'll be alone during that time and I don't want to be in case he comes around." JJ kept wiping my tears off of my cheeks every once in a while. I continued to take deep breaths while Rutger thought through this part. "Okay how about that day you either come with me, Luca and Luke to tutoring and do some work there or we can find someone else for you to stay with while us boys are split up. I know that this isn't the best case scenario because you moved here to get back to a normal life. I promise we'll figure this out. I also do think it's time to file a police report and get a restraining order."

Once Rutger and I hung up I turned and laid my head on JJ's chest. He rubbed my back up and down while we continued to sit with his family. I wasn't in the mood to do anything or to talk to anyone. I looked up after a while and JJ's family were looking at me concerned. I turned back around and looked at JJ. "Can the hockey boys come over? If not can you take me home?" JJ's mom spoke before JJ had a chance to. "Sweetheart, of course they can come over." I nodded quickly before grabbing my phone and calling Rutger again. The phone only rang two times before he picked up. "Rutger can you and the boys come over? I really need you all." As soon as I asked this question Rutger got up and called all of the boys to tell them that they're all coming over here and that I need them. After Rutger said that I heard all of them running and I even heard one of them slip and fall down while running. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw it was Luke who ran and fell. I even took some pictures of him as he was laying on the floor and rolling around. This made my day. While Luke was laying on the floor all the other boys were running around him grabbing their jackets, hoodies, and any other things they needed. Luke finally got up and once he was they all headed out to the cars. They split up. In one car it was Rutger, Luke and Ethan and in the other car it was the two Fantilli brothers and Mark. Since I was still on the phone with Rutger, Ethan drove.

Half an hour later the doorbell to the house rang. Even though I know it is probably the boys I couldn't help but my fight or flight response from kicking in. I was scared to move or be loud. JJ's dad stood up and answered the door. Once he answered the door I heard Rutger's voice. All three of them ran into the house and stopped once they saw me. After they ran to me the rest of the boys arrived and ran into the living room as well. I stood up and gave all of them a hug. Of course the last two people I hugged were Luke and Rutger. Once I greeted all of them I sat back down. Since Rutger was here I sat down in between Rutger and JJ. Next to Rutger was Luke. Then all the boys sat down in a circle. Instead of talking about what's going on with Rhett everyone decided to just talk and watch tv. As we continued talking we ended up on the topic of the next monday question and the monday question bloopers. "Boys, what should the next Monday question be?" They all were deep in thought. Finally Ethan spoke "I think it should be if you were a dog breed, what would you be?" I chuckled because of course Ethan would bring up a question about being a dog breed. We continued to talk and I felt my eyes growing heavy. Since JJ, Rutger and I were sitting on the couch I laid my head in Rutger's lap and put my legs on JJ's lap. My eyes finally closed and I felt Rutger place a blanket over me.
