After saying yes to getting dinner with JJ I'm freaking out. I don't know what to wear or where we're going. I decided to text Kayleigh instead of Rut since this is one of the few instances where Rut wouldn't be helpful with how protective he is of me.

Val: Kay 911 i need your help

Kayleigh: girl what's going on

Val: i have dinner tonight with jj and i don't know what to wear

Kayleigh: wait jj as in QB1 of the football team jj

Val: yes that jj and i obviously couldn't text rut because he'd just go in big brother mode

Kayleigh: okay well where are you going

Val: i don't know all i know is we're getting dinner. i don't want to be underdressed, but also don't want to be overdressed

Kayleigh: okay i think if you wear a sundress or maybe a nice pair of jeans and a sweater it would look cute and work for many occasions

Kayleigh: i like the jeans and sweater. It's cute and just the perfect amount of dressiness. I'm on my way over now so we can talk and I can help you get ready

Val: thanks so much Kay. You know how to get in so just let yourself in

After about 15 minutes I heard my front door open and Kay's voice. She runs into the room and tackles me into a big hug. "Omg girl I can't believe you're going on your first date. Warning though Rut saw me heading here and was wondering why I was literally sprinting so he may call you soon to ask what's going on."

I nodded because I never hide things from him and it doesn't feel right to start now, but I don't know how to tell him that I am going out to dinner alone with a guy without him freaking out. As soon as I got out of my head my phone started ringing and Rut was calling me. I picked up.

I know you don't especially since what has happened in the past, but I promise that if I feel uncomfortable or anything like that I will call you. But I don't think JJ is like that

Okay thank you that does make me feel a little bit better. I still don't like it, but I trust you and I'm proud of you for putting yourself back out there after everything.

I am going to wear jeans with a hoodie that I will crop and some heeled boots

Sounds cute, but do you have to wear a crop top can't you wear something that covers everything

Rut please I love the outfit and I feel really confident in it

Okay only because you said you feel confident in it otherwise I wouldn't have been happy with you wearing it

Once I finished talking to Rut on the phone. I continued to get ready and listened to some of my music. Kay sat and we kept talking. She was helping me do some light makeup. By the time we finished talking, listening to music and getting ready JJ finally texted me that he was on his way to get me and that he'd be at my place in 15 minutes. When I saw this text Kay decided to head out. She gave me a hug and told me to text her with how things go.

As I was waiting for JJ I made sure I had my purse and that my phone, wallet, lip balm, and keys were in there. After I checked that I had everything I put my boots on and headed downstairs. When I made it downstairs JJ called me saying he's a couple minutes away. I let him know that I was already downstairs just waiting inside. After a couple more minutes he walked up to the door. When I opened the door he held it open, took my hand and walked me to the car which he then opened his car door for me. When we were both in his car he handed me a bouquet of flowers.

He started the car and headed out. As he was driving he was holding my hand and laying it in his lap as we were driving. He let me have aux and I played some of my favorite music and was singing along. When we arrived at the restaurant it was a Japanese place. We sat, looked at the menu and decided to order some sushi to share. While we were waiting we talked about many different things including our families. I told him what it was like growing up with Rutger and how we have always been so close. He told me about his family. I found out he has two sisters Morgan and Caitlin.

When our food came we both decided to post on our stories. He posted the picture of our food while we were at the restaurant and I posted the picture of us holding hands in the car. We both tagged each other and I knew I was going to be getting spammed in the hockey groupchat and I figured JJ would also be getting spammed in his own groupchats as well.
