"Hey, where were you?" Hae soo asked when I caught up with her while she was walking to the cafeteria. "You were the first out at the end of bio but you weren't at your locker."
I took a few deep breaths because I'd just run down many flights of stairs.
"You went to check on the-"
"Yeah," I answered, after finally steadying my breathing somewhat. "I just hope Jungkook likes it when I show it to him tomorrow. I would've preferred it being like a gift for an occasion. But it's ready now and I can't exactly wait it out."
"Yeah, definitely."
"Do you think it's a nice surprise?"
"It's cute definitely. But I shouldn't be the one to judge it because the two of you clearly know eachother best. I mean, I thought the gift he gave you on your birthday was lame but you were ecstatic."
"It was a transformer! I've always wanted a transformer. But when I was a kid it was a toy marketed only for boys so I never got one. Which is honestly is sexist because girls can like transformers too...Anyway, it's like a childhood dream come true to finally have a transformer. He stays on my dresser."
"I'm glad you're happy. Although, I'm pretty sure that's not the kind of toys couples gift eachother."
I tilted my head in confusion," What toys do couples gift eachother?"
Hae soo sighed in resignation.
"Don't worry about it," she said, tapping the top of my head. "My point is I'm sure Jungkook will love your surprise because it's from you," she said opening the cafeteria doors. We spotted Mark at our usual table.
A few minutes after we sat down, Jungkook arrived.
He greeted me with a kiss to my temple before he sat down.
"Did you send in your college applications yet?" I asked him, handing him the lunchbox my mom packed for him.
"Not yet, I was having trouble choosing other options."
"I haven't either. But I filled it out finally. I've been procrastinating it for a while," I replied. "What about you guys?"
"My mom filled them out for me," Hae soo said. "Options don't matter. It's med school or she's disowning me," she added, with her mouth full. "Not really. She loves me too much. But med school really is her number one choice for me."
"I sent in my applications yesterday. I kept wanting to change things the more I looked at it so I figured if I sent it in I had no choice but whatever I get accepted for," Mark answered.
"Fair enough," I nodded. "We should send in ours today, Junglebook. The due date is nearing and my anxiety is rising."
"Yeah okay. You can help me decide on my back up options for the application."
"Okay," I tapped a finger against my chin. "I'm thinking any career where you can be shirtless. But then again I would get jealous if anyone else admired you..."
Jungkook chuckled hearing that. "Let's think of careers where I keep all my clothes on," he suggested, picking out the figs from the fruit salad in the side compartment of my lunchbox and giving me the kiwi slices from his.
"Agreed," I responded. "Oh before, I forget, my mom said to invite you to dinner today and tomorrow."
"I'm over most nights for dinner, if not all," he laughs, "you can tell her she doesn't need to invite me every day when I already come willingly."
"I've told her that but she says she does it so you know you're always welcome," I shrugged. "And I've realised if doing something makes my mom happy then I'll just leave her be. I'll relay the message every day if I have to."
