Chapter 6 : Tyrone

That night, Tyrone couldn't sleep. He had fallen deeply in love. Rood Bridge Park was the most beautiful place he had ever seen. While he was riding the Thunder Bird, everything struck him differently. Everything was new, different and so surreal. Gone were his feelings of anxiety. Now all he thought about was further exploration into the forest. He wanted to get to know the new world he was now a part of.

The next day, at breakfast, Sam and Natalie were talking with Matt about fitting him in new clothes for school. Tyrone wasn't really paying attention. He was anxious and ready to tell Sam and Natalie what he wanted to do.

"So the school allows whatever you want to wear?" asked Matt.

"Yes. However, what you wear must be school appropriate. That is no problem since you seem to wear that orange hoodie everywhere you go." said Sam.

"I bought you a new shirt that you really must wear! It's so stylish, you are going to look very handsome." said Natalie.

"I hope it's not a dress suit." said Matt worriedly.

"Goodness no! We are not in the 1800s." said Natalie.

"Tyrone, what are you going to do while I'm at school?" asked Matt.

Tyrone wasn't paying attention at first, until he turned to Matt.

"What was that?" he asked.

"What are you going to do while I'm away?" asked Matt.

"Oh yeah, I wanted to ask... Mom. Dad. I really liked what I saw yesterday. And I was wondering...." Tyrone was saying.

"Yes." said Sam.

"What?" asked Tyrone.

"You heard me right. Yes. You are allowed to further explore Rood Bridge Park as you wish." said Sam.

Tyrone's jaw dropped in surprise and both Sam and Natalie smiled.

"I told you the Thunder Birds were a good idea." said Natalie.

"At the cost of my sanity." said Sam winking.

"What are you two talking about?" asked Tyrone.

"Tyrone, we know you are feeling anxious and worried. But Rood Bridge Park is a wonderful place and it will do you good to explore the lands. But you are not going alone. You see, Gannon and Garret have volunteered to take you." said Sam.

"Hold on! What are you two talking about?" asked Matt.

"Tyrone, we know you couldn't be a Sword Warrior at the school with Destiny and Matt. But if you could get to know Rood Bridge Park and see the villages and see how different things are here, you will learn so much." Natalie.

"I would love that very much." said Tyrone, feeling excited and joyful.

"To explore Rood Bridge Park, and all of it, it may take you some time. Perhaps a couple of years and such." said Sam.

"Couple of years?" asked Matt, sounding a little anxious. Natalie turned and saw his demeanor change. He was starting to look worried and somewhat upset.

"Gannon and Garret are okay with this?" asked Tyrone.

"They are. The Mothman and I spoke with them about it and they are on board with the idea." said Sam.

"However, we will need to prepare you for your journey. Food, clothes and camping equipment." said Natalie.

Tyrone nodded with excitement. "Yeah, and what about money? I don't really know how money works here still..." said Tyrone.

"Gannon and Garret will show you and I will give you a loan. You forget my dear son, I'm Bogey Man royalty." said Sam.

"HOW ARE YOU OKAY WITH THIS!?" screamed Matt.

Everyone froze and stared directly at Matt.

"Matt, calm down sweet heart." said Natalie calmly.

"I can't calm down. Tyrone is leaving us?" asked Matt.

"It's not what it looks like little man. I'm just going on a trip and you're going to school. We'll hardly see each other." said Tyrone.

"YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" cried Matt.

"Matt." said Sam with a stern voice.

"Sweetheart, this is just a talk. And Tyrone is not leaving right away. His trip may take a while to plan." said Natalie.

Matt shook his head. "No. Tyrone, don't go! Stay! Until I go to School. It's hard enough knowing I'm going and you're not, and now you're leaving. I won't be able to see you!" cried Matt.

Sam and Natalie stood silent until Tyrone spoke calmly to Matt. "Matt, you're going to learn about this world at school. Allow me to learn from the outside. And when the time is right, maybe I'll take you with me. But for now, we just need to do this." said Tyrone.

"I don't like this. This is so stupid. Why are you doing this Tyrone? You don't love me anymore? You don't love Sam and Natalie?" asked Matt.

"Matt, I love everybody here! But I want to go and learn about Rood Bridge Park. What I saw yesterday.... I wish I can show you. But right now, you need to go to the Sword Warrior Academy and I need to go out and learn what's out there. That way, we can both be strong against the bad man." said Tyrone.

Matt didn't say a word. His eyes were starting to get watery. Sam then placed an arm around him.

"Everything is going to be alright. You are going to school and you are going to make new friends." said Sam.

"But... why do things have to change?" asked Matt.

"Things change my dear. It is a part of life and growing up." said Natalie.

"This is so unfair." said Matt sadly. He stood up from his chair and slowly went upstairs.

"He'll come around. In good time." said Natalie.

"I wish I can take him with me." said Tyrone.

"I tried to speak with the Mothman, but he wouldn't hear of it. He preferred you do the journey with Gannon and Garret." said Sam.

As the day went on, Matt didn't come out of his room, nor did he spoke with Tyrone at all. He felt bad for talking about his wishes at breakfast at first, but Tyrone knew that Sam and Natalie were right. This was something he needed to go out and do. If he was going to live in Rood Bridge Park, he might as well learn about the people and cultures of this place. Matt was going to be at a school that was practically a boarding house. He was going to sleep and live there for half the year. He wasn't going to see his brother during that time. This was the perfect chance to go out on his journey. He didn't want to feel guilty at all. For the first time in a while, Tyrone wanted to do something that he alone wanted to do. And it was a very good feeling.

But at the same time, it wasn't.
