Chapter 15: Destiny
(The following chapter contains some triggering moments.)
As the sun was setting over the horizon, Destiny let out a huge sigh of relief and drank plenty of water. Earlier in the day, Joshua put her and Tyrone through different forms of exercise. He had them jog around for a couple minutes, pull a few weights, and had them do push ups. The whole ordeal reminded her when she was a student at a High School during gym class.
How she missed her classmates and her gym teacher, a muscular woman named Cassandra. Or at least that was what Destiny remembered. As she sat down on a bleacher, Tyrone sat next to her.
"I never thought that hippie would be that intense." said Tyrone.
"He's tough." said Destiny.
"I know this is going to sound random; how do you like it here?" asked Tyrone.
Destiny put down her water bottle and looked up at the orange sky.
"I love it here. This is what I pictured Rood Bridge Park to be. This is our home now." said Destiny.
"Our home?" asked Tyrone.
"Of course our home. I came with you and your family. Besides, I'm a part of your family." said Destiny.
"You are. Yeah." said Tyrone, his cheeks reddening.
Ever since Destiny met Tyrone, she has been impressed with how mature and sweet this guy was. His relationship with Matt was very healthy and she could tell how honest and sincere Tyrone was. Not to mention that lately, he's changed a little. Tyrone looked the same to Destiny; exactly how they met. But lately, she couldn't help but notice how handsome Tyrone was. His face was warm, kind, and his personality was very welcoming. Not to mention that should they continue with their exercises, he might become even more handsome and... Destiny quickly went back to reality.
Deep down, she had a small crush on Tyrone. But Destiny was never one to think about relationships or anything like that. She was always a busy bee. Always working, always trying very hard to succeed in life. Back in the real world, she dealt with a lot of emotional pain. And she dealt with other things that she didn't even tell Tyrone about. She had so much bottled up inside her, but she did not allow her feelings to get in the way of her life.
"You okay?" asked Tyrone.
"Y-yes. Sorry. I've been staring into space." said Destiny.
"You look like you are staring into space. You looked so out of it." said Tyrone.
"Hardy har har." said Destiny with a smile.
...........................................................
Destiny was in the privacy of her tent at last. She had a sleeping bag, but she felt quite comfortable in it thanks to her pillows she was able to bring on the trip and her favorite stuffed polar bear; the one she had as a little girl.
She held on to it very tightly.
"Benny. I wonder what mess we got ourselves into this time." she whispered to it.
She lay down on her pillow and closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep. Or so she hoped. She woke up with the sudden buzzing noise of her phone. She quickly looked at it, thinking it was her alarm or something.
Indeed, there was a notification. She opened it up to see a link to a video. She clicked on it and there were videos of a creature trying to set itself free in a prison made of polygons. The video was short, but it simply showed the "thing" trying to get out of wherever it was. It looked angry and had malice in its eyes. It was pressing on different polygon shapes on screen, moving about cubes within the polygons. With each one it tried, there was a digital voice that simply said "access denied." The creature shrieked and kept on speaking.
