Chapter 47: Tyrone

The whole village was evacuated. There wasn't a single soul there. Not even Destiny was there, much to Tyrone's relief as he watched the fire consume the village. He was tired after fighting a couple of demon shadows from out of nowhere. Those shadows were created by the evil Viscount Bryan, who used the Dark Impulse to bring them to life.

However, as Tyrone knew by now, the Dark Impulse had a life of its own. And recently, he started seeing a familiar face that has been following him for quite some time. Tyrone would look over his shoulder and he might see "his" face. His or it? Tyrone never considered the thought if the shadow was a person or some sort of creature that just followed him around.

As Tyrone battled his way through the village striking down shadows, he saw "him" standing by. The flames were surrounding the wretch, but the flames had no effect on him. Aster simply watched with glee as Tyrone was panting for breath. Aster was a wendigo who was supposed to be dead for a long time. Yet the Dark Impulse brought him back as a phantom, and he just started to haunt Tyrone.

"You did this?!" cried Tyrone angrily to the monster.

"I did no such thing. This village was already burning by the time I arrived here." said Aster, walking around and examining the chaos as if it were a work of art.

"Then who did this? Tell me!" cried Tyrone.

"I have no idea who did this. But I got to say, whoever started the fire has an eye for art. I've never seen such destruction in so very long." said Aster.

"How can this destruction be a work of art?!" Tyrone cried in disbelief.

"If this fire was started by the so-called Viscount, he would have blown this whole village up and we'd be seeing piles of corpses. That would be sloppy work. Whoever did this knew exactly where to start the fire, how it would spread and there is heavy damage in the houses. You cannot see it by the smoke, but there are sword markings all over this village. It was destroyed by one person and one person only." said Aster.

"Then tell me! Who did this?!" screamed Tyrone with anger. He never raised his voice this loud before, especially to a monster like this.

"I don't know. And even if I knew, I would not tell you. But I will say this. The person who did this wasn't a Dark Impulse user, but rather a person full of intense hatred. The style of destruction and people running for their lives... this person enjoyed every moment of screams and agony." said Aster.

"Piss off." said Tyrone, giving up on talking with Aster.

"Careful Tyrone. Matt already showed signs of hatred to the Jersey Devil and his heart is already beating with hatred for the darkness. If you start to hate, you would be just as blackhearted as I am." said Aster.

Tyrone had enough. He pulled his sword and ran towards Aster, trying to strike him down. And he seemingly stabbed him, right in the gut. But Aster didn't scream nor did he gasp. Instead, he started to laugh and then he vanished into thin air. Tyrone screamed at the top of his lungs while Aster's laughter echoed through the flames.
