Chapter 37: Matt, Lucy and Ethan
The group decided to split up. Emmet and Owen would go with Zakariak outside to get plants for Emmet's remedy while Matt, Lucy and Ethan awaited them close to the corpse of Polygon, in case of foul play.
"I don't like this." said Ethan.
"I know. None of us do." said Lucy.
"Se me hizo muy fácil." mumbled Matt to himself.
"Excuse me?" asked Lucy.
"He said it was too easy." said Ethan.
"Yeah. Polygon is dead? Just like that? I don't know, but this doesn't look right." said Matt.
Lucy walked over to the dead Polygon and nodded. "He looks pretty dead to me. Whatever he or it was." said Lucy.
Ethan began to rub his right eye again and cussed.
"You've been rubbing it more than usual." said Matt.
"That's because I'm supposed to see something. As a Moth boy, I'm supposed to see visions right now. But I'm what they call a late bloomer." said Ethan.
"Can you try harder? Maybe you have a vision than can help us?" asked Matt.
"Matt, can't you see that it hurts him?" asked Lucy.
"Matt's right. I may be able to see things, but it might take a while. I just need to sit and meditate." said Ethan.
"Okay. Siéntate princesita." teased Matt.
"Chamaco." said Ethan in reply.
Lucy didn't understand them but nodded. "Okay. What you guys said."
Ethan sat down and closed his eyes. Matt smiled with mischief, grabbed a pencil he found lying on the floor and used it to tease Ethan on the ear.
"I see something!" said Ethan.
"What?" asked Matt, hiding the pencil behind his back.
"I see..... I see un chango marango!" said Ethan, opening his eyes at Matt. Only they were now bright red and Matt jumped, dropping the pencil.
"Your eyes! They're red!" cried Matt.
Lucy walked over and Ethan looked up at the ceiling.
After what seemed like minutes, Ethan closed his eyes and blood started to drip.
"I'm fine! That happens to me when I see visions. And we were right! This was staged!" cried Ethan.
"What?" asked Matt.
"Polygon isn't dead. That was a decoy! He and Zakariak were planning this!" cried Ethan.
"Emmet and Owen are in trouble!" cried Matt.
In that instant, the three friends quickly gathered their baseball bats and golf clubs and they ran as fast as they could.
