chapter three
˚✧ ₊˚ʚyunjin felt the nerves swivel in the depths of her stomach as she stared at the church before her-the anxiety seeping into the deepest parts of her bones. she couldn't believe she was going through with this, she was nervous. beyond nervous.
her tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth; the dryness sending her into a deep feeling of uncomfortableness. she gently pushed her loose bangs back behind her ears, the red lightly fading into a soft orange color. she made a mental note to retouch the deep crimson.
she turned back at the car, her mind telling her to just turn around and not make a fool of herself in front of all the people who are most likely ten times better than she is. "yunjin, breathe." she mumbled to herself, resting the palm of her hand on her chest to help ease some comfort. she felt a hand rub her shoulder, "yunjin, we can turn back if you want." haewon said, a comforting tone leaving her lips. while the two bickered a lot, haewon always knew when to make her feel better. "yeah, we promised we wouldn't let you do this alone." lily added, stepping up next to yunjin with a soft smile dancing across her faces.
yunjin adored her friends, they were always willing to go above and beyond for her-despite any difficulties they would face. she was fully expecting the two to turn her offer down, but they were very happy and understanding about the situation-plus the exact words from haewon herself, "i have to figure out if chaewon is fruity or not." which made the whole table laugh, all but yeonjun.
not because he wasn't disappointed, but because yunjin didn't tell him. she couldn't handle him spewing out harsh words at her again and she knew he would say anything to keep her from coming.
"are you ready?" haewon asked, giving yunjin a look of 'you got this'
yunjin giggled, "i love how serious you guys are taking this, you really didn't have to come." she added, her smile still very prominent on her cheeks. lily gave the latter a small smile, "of course we did, we're your friends. i know i don't talk often, but i do care about you. after everything you've told us with your parents, we're not going to let you go through this on your own." she said, causing yunjins heart to do a small flip out of pure love.
she gave a curt nod, and they started their walk to the churchs side, which held a mini movie theater for their youth program. yunjin was nervous, but not because of the reason many of you would think. she was terrified to be surrounded by people that grew up here, scared that homophobia would follow her and that they'd shun her the moment they found out. as they got closer to the opening of the home style movie theater, the sound of laughter, light music, and buzzing of talking erupt.
she opened the door with shaky hands, all the eyes turning back to face the group of three girls standing there-most likely looking like the odd ones out. "hi," yunjin mumbled with a soft voice, anxiety rising up to the back of her throat.
