chapter eight

the light buzz of cicadas in the distance filled the humid air, the sound of waves pushing against the white sand was the only sound heard from the comfort of chaewon's stance. her eyes flickered as the waves deepened, her mind spinning with desperation for answers as to why she felt the way she felt.

she dug her hands deep in her jean pocket, the light wind sending a shiver down her spine as the moon glistened softly against her porcelain skin-her mind recalling her entire evening with yunjin. it had been about two hours since she had dropped the girl off, watching as her red hair disappeared into the home that seemed to hide so much from the outside world.

chaewon closed her eyes as the wind caressed her bare skin, her blue cardigan still with yunjin beings that she told the younger she could keep it. it looked better on her anyways, she thought, her mind recalling how soft and cute yunjin looked in the blue fleece cardigan.

chaewon looked up towards the sky, she always wondered what was beyond the stars. despite growing up in a church, with a preacher as her father, she oftentimes felt herself in shambles over what she truly believed in. after all, she was born into this.

who is she to change, her father would despise her, she couldn't do that to him.

she blinked harshly against the wind, the light tears sticking to the corner of her eyes as the thoughts of what her father would do to her if he knew the thoughts she had.

deep in thought, light footsteps could be heard behind her. she felt at peace, only certain people knew about this space so of course it would be someone she knew. "figured i'd find you out here." sakura spoke softly, wrapping the blanket around chaewon's frame.

it was common for chaewon to bury herself in thoughts in front of the sea.

chaewon smiled at the action, and curled herself into the blanket. "yeah, dealing with some thoughts." chaewon mumbled, allowing her head to rest against sakura's shoulder.

"what're you thinking about?" sakura asked, laying her head against chaewon's. sakura was always like this, being the one person who knew chaewon like the back of her hand. the one person that truly cared for her.

chaewon felt her teeth sink into her bottom lip, "just thinking about today." she responded meekly, her voice was small-almost as if she didn't want the elder to know about her day with yunjin.

sakura's mouth held an oh shape to them, "yunjin?" she asked, an eyebrow quirking up as she said the girls name. although she wasn't a fan of yunjin, it wasn't a secret that the two of them obviously had something for each other. whether or not chaewon wanted to admit it, the two had a bond that was destined for each other.
