chapter ten ˚✧ ₊˚ʚ
yunjin felt the comfort of her living room couch delve deeper as she sunk down into the soft material. her mind reminiscing on the night with chaewon, a soft smile gently placed upon her cheeks as she stared aimlessly at the ceiling. she wasn't quite sure what this feeling was, a light crush? perhaps. but it was something she didn't necessarily enjoy, nerves racking in from negative thoughts about what her father could do to her, or how chaewon would react to the idea of yunjin possibly having a crush.
she wonders if chaewon feels the same about her, if she feels the connection the two have with each other as much as yunjin does.
or is yunjin just crazy, that is always a possibility. she always manages to somehow get herself involved with something that never would happen, and perhaps chaewon is that something.
"how was your night?" a soft warm voice spoke from behind her, "hi mom," yunjin started, "it was fun. i enjoyed it." she admitted, biting down the incoming smile that seemed to grow as she thought about chaewon. her mom hummed in response, clasping onto the mug that held her black coffee.
yunjin never understood how someone as sweet as her mother could intake something so bitter. whether that be the coffee itself, or her father. she felt the seat adjust next to her, her moms knees pulling to her chest while her fingers wrapped tightly against the rim of her glass.
this was a usual occurrence for the two of them, beings that her father was already at work for his night shift, it was just the two of them and yunjin always loved when it was, because she was getting her genuine mother, and not whatever persona she'd put on around her father.
"that's good, what did you two girls do?" she asked gently, raking her fingers through the loose ends of her hair. yunjin felt her eyebrows furrow in confusion, not quite sure why the questions were suddenly raised into the thick air.
yunjin hummed as her mind flipped through the memories, "we met up at the diner up the road for a bite to eat, and then stargazed. we talked about a few things together, yknow, just girl stuff." she shrugged, looking over at her mother.
the tension is thick in the air, and yunjin knows her mother was expecting a bit more than what was given. she wanted to know if the two were dating, and as much as she loved her mother, she'd never be able to tell her even if they had anything going on simply because the words would be repeated in the ears of her father.
she gently weaved her fingers through the soft fabric of the blanket, the anxiety now starting to break down into her stomachs as the silence erupted.
"you know," yunjin's mom started, "your dad loves you, and he really wants what's best for you." she started, resulting in a scoff to escape yunjin's lips.
