"our love was made for movie screens."

-----------

I waited in anticipation the whole day. I couldn't stop watching the clock or moving. My leg would shake continually or my fingers would drum against the desks. Every time I saw Orion he would give me this smile, like we were best friends sharing a secret.

The day dragged by endlessly and when the final bell rang I jumped out of my seat and almost sprinted to the front entrance. It took Orion a few minutes to show up, but I was glad for that time. My heart was still beating fast after my little sprinting session and I really didn't need to have a heart attack, seeing as every time he appeared my heart beat doubled in speed. When he showed up he asked for the keys to my truck and I handed them to him wordlessly.

As soon as he turned on the ignition the radio hit us full blast and he jumped so high that his head hit the roof of the car. I tried to stifle my laughter as he frantically looked for the volume button. At some point I totally lost it whilst looking at his lost and confused expression, he looked liked a puppy for gods sake. I found myself clutching my stomach and howling with laughter, I'm pretty sure I even let loose a few snorts.

A few minutes later I recovered and turned to see that Orion actually looked embarrassed. His cheeks were flushed and he was rubbing the back of his neck. I was tempted to start another round of laughter; but instead gave him a reassuring smile which seemed to relieve him.

Then we were off, I wasn't really sure where we were going. And I was okay with that, it felt good to get away. Every mile we left behind the more space I had in my lungs to breathe.

The first stop we made was for paint and water balloons. Orion placed four gallons of random paint in the cart while I chose the other four. We then grabbed two packages of water balloons and some sort of plastic funnel. The next stop we made was to a small gas station, there we got drinks and something to eat.

As we drove down some deserted road in our dead beat town with Bon Iver playing in the background I felt like air.

We ended up at an ancient abandoned building. It was huge and had wood covering up the windows and doors. We got out of the truck and grabbed our supplies. I was wondering how we were going to get in but Orion seemed to know this place like the back of his hand. We circled the building and came across a back door, which Orion opened easily with a key. When we walked in I was absolutely amazed.

The walls were covered in art. Swirling colors of reds, oranges, and pinks made up a sunset on one wall. The ceiling had a smattering of holes which gave the place some light, it was also painted indigo and was covered with glow in the dark stars. The rest of the walls were covered in all types of pictures, pastels, paints, and even endless amounts of writing. It was breathtaking. I had almost forgot about Orion in the amazement of it all. I turned to look at him and found that he was already staring at me.

"Do you like it?" He asked giddily.

I nodded my head vigorously. "How did you find out about this place?"

"Friends," he answered vaguely.

I looked at him questioningly, but didn't say anything else. There was no room left on the walls for our paint, and I certainly wasn't going to ruin someone else's art. Before I even asked Orion about this he had already started to speak.

"Come over here and help me fill up these water balloons, we're going throw them on the floor." He beckoned we over to a small table with chairs off in a corner.

Glancing down at the floor I saw plain grey concrete. My mouth formed into a smile uncontrollably. I bounced on my feet, not being able to hold in my excitement.

About twenty minutes later we were both a mess of colors but; luckily we had around 75 balloons filled with orange, red, purple, blue, green, pink, and yellow paint. Sometime in the process Orion turned on a paint covered radio and the soft strumming of a guitar filled the empty space.

"I think this is enough," he gestured to our mountain of paint-filled balloons.

I nodded and grabbed one, then immediately threw it on the grey concrete. A burst of bright pink made its mark. I grinned at Orion and soon we were creating a huge rainbow-colored mess on the floor. I decided that Orion wore a little too much black and hurled a yellow balloon at him. His startled look was priceless, I tried to hold in my laughter.

"Sorry, it was an accident," I squeaked when he glared over at me.

The skeptical look on his face was enough to convince me to start running. Before I could make it out the door a balloon filled with crimson paint hit my back. I could feel his smug look even before I saw his face; his loud laugh followed shortly after.

"Oh it's on like donkey kong!" I grabbed my ammunition and began throwing balloons in his direction at rapid fire.

The paint war ended when we ran out of balloons. Orion looked like a bee threw up all over him. I looked like the product of a very bloody murder, there was quite possibly some red paint in my eyes.

"Would you like to make orange with me Miss. Nightly?"

Luckily the paint hid my blush as I fumbled for a response. I ended up sputtering and shrugging, my lack of social skill presenting itself.

Orion looked over at me, a small smile on his face. "So is that a yes or no?"

My mouth was still refusing to form words so I just shrugged again. I was desperately trying to fire some witty response at him, but my mind and body were freaking out.

"I'll take that as a yes." He walked over to me and stopped when there was a few inches in between us. The room was deathly quiet and my ragged breathing was even more noticeable. Orion stepped closer, until there was just a whisper of a breath between the two of us.

I closed my eyes, out of anticipation? Or was it out of fear? Then I felt his long arms wrap themselves around my waist in a tight hug. I snapped my eyes open; after a few seconds I relaxed into the hug and wound my own arms around him.

Was this feeling washing over me disappointment or relief?
