"i want what you have, i want what you have now. give it to me."

The moment I woke up I had a bounce in my step. Waffles were made and for once I wasn't dreading school as much as usual. Leo and I even arrived to our respective education centers early.

Jasper was waiting at my locker with a cup of coffee.

"Best friend?" I questioned the words scrawled on the side of my cup.

"Figured you might need a reminder," he was grinning widely.

My face stretched into an identical grin as I grabbed the cup from him. Jasper then insisted on walking me to my first class. We departed in front of my history room with a promise to see one another at lunch.

History seemed to last forever and Mr. Cook gave us a test in Algebra 2 (which I was confident that I had failed.) Jasper greeted me after English and we made our way towards my truck. Although he was blabbering on about some hot girl in his Chemistry class it felt nice to walk down the hall with a friend.

"So where are we going?" He questioned eagerly once we were situated in my truck.

"No where yet, I've got to see if Orion wants to come." Whipping out my phone I sent a quick text to him.

Nyx: Join me and Jasper for lunch today?
Orion: Sure Sugar be at your truck in 5.

"Sugar?" Jasper questioned leaning over my phone to read our conversation.

"I know right, he can totally do better. That's what the waitresses at Rose's Diner used to call us."

"And you're not sweet. If anything you're more like salt. Often mistaken for sugar, but two totally different tastes."

"Thanks for the comparison Jasper, that creative writing class seems to be doing you some good."

He scoffed a bit and grumbled under his breath that sarcasm was the lowest form of wit. I just rolled my eyes and scanned the parking lot for Orion.

"Where the hell is this kid if he doesn't hurry his ass up we won't even get any food." Jasper began to whine impatiently after a few moments.

"It's hasn't even been five minutes settle your–" My sentence was interrupted when Orion slid in next to Jasper who visibly jumped at his abrupt appearance.

"What the hell?" Jasper turned to me, "Nyx did you see that shit, it's like he just magically appeared!"

He then shifted his focus on Orion, "Alright look here Boyfriend, if you're some blood sucking vampire with super speed I suggest you leave my friend Nyx here alone. This love story will not turn into another Twilight, I forbid it!"

"Trust me you'll get accustom to his little magic trick, he does it often. And really Jasper, a vampire? I was thinking more on the magical side. Like a witch or something. Plus we've slept together and vampires don't sleep. Also," I added as an afterthought, "He's really warm."

"I'm just going to ignore the fact that you openly admitted to sleeping with him in my presence so I can address your theories. First of all Orion is a man, which I'm sure you know that fact all too well." He shuddered quite dramatically here.

"So the correct term is warlock not witch. Second of all the existence of witchcraft is based purely on fiction so he can't be a warlock. And third of all if he's really warm he must be a werewolf, in which case this would still be a Twilight love story. The only thing missing is your Edward," he started rubbing his chin in thought. After a few seconds he snapped his fingers, "I've got it! You remember that kid in your English class who used to follow you around all the time?"

"Cory Belinski?"

"Exactly, that's your Edward!" He looked satisfied with himself as he settled into his seat.

I started to shudder at the thought of Cory being my Edward. The poor kid was awkwardly tall for an 8th grader and had the most hideous head gear. Not to mention his daily ensemble of polo shirts and khaki pants. I had no probably seeing past his physical appearance but the kid gave me the absolute creeps. Every time I tried to talk to him he would just stare at my chest. And like Jasper said, he always seemed to be lurking near me. Shaking my head in an effort to rid myself of him I began my rebuttal.

"Okay Jasper, you'll believe in humans that turn into animals and dead blood sucking people but not witches! Ever heard of The Salem Witch Trials? If anything witchcraft is based on actual facts rather than stupid folklore. And Cory is not vampire material, remember how terrible he was at sports? He broke his ankle on the first day of school when we started our warm up stretches."

"I guess your right," before my victory speech ensued he continued his sentence. "About Cory, I'm sure your Edward is around here somewhere, we just need to find him."

"I thought you didn't want this to end up as another Twilight romance!" I exclaimed throwing my hands up.

"Well now I'm emotionally invested in this Nyx! I'm your best friend so that means I have to help find your soulmate even if he is a blood sucking vampire."

Orion cleared his throat loudly, "I'd appreciate it if you didn't try to set up my girlfriend with a vampire, thanks."

"Girlfriend?" I questioned focusing my attention on the beautiful boy who made my palms sweaty.

All he did was wink and lean over a gagging Japser to give me a short kiss on the cheek.

"Alright move out of the way Grocery Boy," he nudged Jasper a little bit.

"Excuse me?" Jasper responded in a flabbergasted tone.

Orion sighed and crawled over Jasper to settle snugly next to me. He swung his arm over my shoulder and the scent of mint and rain filled my personal space.

"Let's go before lunch ends, how's pizza sound?"

Jasper made a noise of affirmation and impatiently tapped my dashboard when I didn't move.

"I'm not so sure I can drive," I mumbled out honestly.

"Why not babe?"

Better than sugar. I thought to myself before taking a deep breath to reply.

"You're a little too close," I had managed dealing with his leg pressed against mine. But now his whole left side was pressed against me. It made me uncomfortable mostly because it made my imagination turn a little dark. And also because I wasn't used to a lot of physical contact, I always liked at least a foot of space between me and any other human.

Instead of moving he pressed in a little tighter, "Get used to it babe."
