"we don't ask for much, just what was promised us."

After we inhaled a pizza the boys and I decided to skip out on our last classes. Jasper requested to be dropped off at a friend's house and I decided to spend the afternoon with Orion.

Once we entered his house we went straight to his backyard. From what little I saw of his home it matched its exterior. The picturesque family home was filled with many photos of bright smiling faces. A tall women with flowing black locks and an even taller man with blonde hair were featured frequently. For obvious reasons I deemed them to be Orion's parents.

But it didn't feel staged, in fact the house seemed to radiate warmth. It also smelled like fresh cookies, which made sense when I saw a plate of them on the kitchen counter.

Outside Orion and I sat on a creaky metal swing under the sun. He disappeared upstairs  for a moment and I took the time to observe the backyard. A large tree with yellowing leaves took up most of the space while bright flowers were sprouting everywhere.

He appeared with a guitar strapped to his back and two glasses in hand.

"Iced tea?"

I took the class gratefully and watched as Orion sat next to me strumming a few chords on his instrument.

"So the rumors are true then?" When Orion gave me a confused look I elaborated. "Haven't you heard, you play every instrument and sing like an angel."

He thought about the statement for a second before decidedly shaking his head, "I can't play the bag pipes yet."

"That's a little embarrassing. The bag pipes are all the rage this year Orion. Not to mention how easy they are to play, one could even compare them to a recorder on the difficulty scale."

He laughed a little, "I'll get on those lessons right away wouldn't want to embarrass you babe."

"Hey Orion," I said hesitantly, "You might want to try out a different pet name, I feel like the ugly nerd in your bad boy story."

"Noted Nyx," he replied back easily.

"Oh and one other thing," I was a bit apprehensive about approaching this subject with him but I wanted to be up front so it wouldn't bite us both in the ass later.

I took a deep breath and rambled my small speech out before I chickened out. "Look I don't really mind all the physical contact we share, in fact I might like it a bit too much. But I'm not really used to people touching me. I'm not saying it has to stop, just asking that you can maybe ease me into it."

My eyes were watching his face the entire time and my heart hurt a little when he dropped his bright smile. I could tell he was feeling guilty, which was not what I had intended to happen. He scooted away from me a little and refused to meet my gaze.

"I'm really sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable Nyx. It wasn't my intention. My family has always been big on hugs and physical reassurance. I guess I just do it out of habit."

When he finished I felt worse and even more frustrated at myself. Groaning lightly I buried my head into my hands and tried to collect the right words to tell Orion.

A few moments of silence passed before I composed myself again. "Don't apologize Orion. This wouldn't even be a big deal to most of the human population. I didn't want this to be a huge deal, but I have a habit of making a storm out of a little bit of rain."

He was still quiet, I was never really good with words so instead of trying to create another shitty metaphor I decided to just show him.
My hands hooked under his knees, with a few tugs I had pulled him closer. Feeling bold I kissed his cheek. When my eyes caught his gaze my lips curled into a soft smile. And my forehead rested against his.

"This is okay with me Orion."

He moved in closer but before his lips touched mine he asked, "Is this okay Nyx?"

My hands wrapped around his neck and with the nod of my head he pressed his lips against mine.

He pulled back a few heated moments later, "I have something planned if you're up for it, Kitten."

"I'm in as long as you never call me Kitten again."

"Deal, Kitty."

"Really Orion? I'm not afraid to call you Daddy."

I laughed until my stomach hurt when he choked on air and vehemently shook his head.
