"i just think about my baby, i'm so full of love I could barely eat."

"The fair?" I spoke with amusement and a hint of curiosity.
After an hour of Orion directing me to the "super secret special location", we finally arrived in a full parking lot. In front of us was a smattering of rides, an aging Ferris wheel seeming to be the main attraction. Although the fair seemed to be well loved and quite small, many people were enjoying it.
"Not just any fair my dear Nyx," He spoke grandly as he exited my truck.
"The fair," he finished opening my door.
Stepping out I did a small curtsy, to which Orion returned with a bow.
"How marvelous Orion! Just when I thought you were taking pointers from every teen romance ever. The fair, quite different from the fair I assume." My words came across playful with a pinch of sarcasm (I hoped, I did tend to lay the sarcasm on thick.)
"I assure you, your assumptions are right on the nose," he replied tapping my nose.
We walked towards the entrance and waited in line for a few minutes. As we got closer towards the front I took out my wallet, ready to pay.
Orion shook his head,"You won't be needing that today." He said gesturing towards my wallet.
"Let's skip the whole 'this is a date, I'll pay for you' macho man thing, alright? I can spare a few dollars on the fair."
"Wait, so this is a date?" Orion asked with a small smile on his face.
I could feel the tips of my ears getting hot as I tried to redeem myself. Luckily we were at the front of the line and the man working the entrance spoke up.
"Welcome young lovers!" The man seemed to be radiating happiness, he wore a big smile and a silver shirt. Turning around he grabbed two bands and wrapped them around Orion and I's wrists.
"Have fun and remember you can't leave until the sky turns dark," he called out as we were walking away.
"We didn't pay? And what does he mean we can't leave until the sky turns dark?" I turned to Orion questioningly.
"Well," he interlaced our fingers, "this fair is entirely free, with no cost towards anyone who decides to come."
"And the reason for that is?" I resisted the urge to pull away my hand and wipe my sweaty palms on my jeans.
"It's officially called The Lights Fair, named after some multimillionaire who wanted to create a totally free experience for those who didn't have the money or for anyone who wanted to come. Local people volunteer and it only stays at one location for 3 days. Then it packs up and moves on, as far as I know they've been in action for 20 years."
Due to the large crowd that surrounded us Orion had turned his head towards me and was speaking in my ear, his breath tickling my neck.
I remained quiet as I looked over the fair. Two women held hands while their children eagerly ate big blue and pink clouds of cotton candy. I saw a girl, with a happy and slightly smug smile, win a giant teddy bear and hand it over to a boy who seemed to be pouting. A ride that claimed to be the Twirl and Hurl, with bright red glowing letters, was to my left. A pack of bright, laughing kids surrounded a green boy who was heaving over one of the near by trash cans.
"Leo!" I exclaimed, the sight of kids his age reminding me of my brother.
I shoved my hand in my back pocket and retrieved my old Nokia. (3 years and about 100 falls, serval which occurred in a various puddles, and it still remained useable.)
"Leo?" Orion asked by my side as I started dialing his number.
"Leo," I repeated nodding my head and listening to the ringing tone.
"Hello sister," Leo answered breezily.
"Leo can you get a ride with Robert? I'll pick you up from his house around 7."
"No problem, I expect a full report and ice cream when we arrive home." He stated seriously.
"Anything for you my sweet brother," I said in between laughs.
"You have a brother?" Orion asked.
His head was cocked slightly to the side, something he always did when he was voicing his inquiries.
I nodded my head, "He's 12 and goes to the middle school."
"Perfect," Orion replied happily.
"Perfect?" I looked over at him, hoping he wasn't some weird child hunter.
He hummed, "I've got a little sister who also happens to be 12."
"Are you suggesting a budding romance between our siblings?" I retaliated, feigning shock.
He took it in stride,"I've already planned the wedding. I'm thinking a yellow and purple theme."
"Don't be ridiculous, purple and yellow will clash."
Orion just laughed and laced our fingers again. I pointedly looked at our intertwined hands and back at him.
He met my eyes, "You said it yourself, it's a date. People hold hands on dates."
"I thought it was our third adventure," I fired back.
"Same thing," he replied.
