Orion's P.O.V
I woke up to a tangle of mint scented hair tickling my nose. Nyx was still sleeping soundly next me but she wasn't on the other side of bed anymore. In fact we were both snugly intertwined in the middle. Her small hands clutched my shirt and her face was buried in my chest. Bruise lined arms peaked out from the tangle of limbs and her soft slow breathing filled the room.
Instead of waking her up right away I watched her small curled form. After a few moments I felt like a total creeper and decided to wake her before she caught me looking.
"Nyx," my voice was a little rough so I cleared my throat and tried again.
"Nyx, love, it's time to wake up." She shifted slightly and mumbled something about waking her in a few more years.
"Nyx, Nyx, Nyx, Nyx..." I chanted poking her cheek with each repetition.
Groaning, her eyes opened and she quickly rolled on top of me. A small hand shot up and covered my mouth.
"Shhhhh," her lips were right against my ear.
"Comfortable princess?"
As if suddenly realizing where she was she scrambled off of me and onto her feet. Knotted hair hung around her face and crumpled clothes covered her body.
"Princess?" She questioned groggily
"Just trying out a few pet names, tell me when I land on a good one."
"I'll settle for Nyx, thanks." Yawning loudly she started to stretch. At one point I saw a small sliver of stomach covered in swirling designs of black ink.
"Nice suggestion but I think I'll pass, honey." I mumbled distractedly, my eyes still transfixed on her tattoo.
"Whatever floats your boat sweetheart, you hungry?" Without waiting for an answer she left the room and ran down the stairs.
Before following her I flicked the light on and off 10 times and shut the closet doors.
Entering the kitchen I saw Nyx with her back facing me, "Cereal is above the fridge." She gestured towards the gleaming white fridge with 5 boxes of cereal lined on top.
Walking towards her I wrapped my arms around her waist and laughed a little when she jumped.
"What if I want something else for breakfast?"
She was quiet for a few seconds before stuttering out, "ummm I can make pancakes?"
"Tempting but I was thinking about something a little less breakfast like. But I'll settle for Honey Nut Cheerios."
Nyx quietly (or not so quietly, her definition of whispering was totally askew) asked herself, "Does he want pizza or something?"
Laughing I grabbed the cereal and quickly rearranged the boxes in size order.
"Or something," I stressed to her sitting at the table with a bowl full of honey coated bits of heaven.
Her face still held a look of confusion but once she glanced at the smirk plastered on my face her nose scrunched up and she rolled her eyes.
I spooned a mouthful of cereal into my mouth before it got soggy.
One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight. Nine. Ten.
"Did you check up on the kids before we fell asleep last night," she asked, glancing at me from above the rim of her mug.
I shook my head and concentrated on counting.
Eleven. Twelve. Thirteen. Fourteen. Fifteen. Sixteen. Seventeen. Eighteen.
Getting up she started for the stairs,"I'm going to go make sure your sister didn't seduce my brother. If she's anything like you we're in trouble."
I raised an eyebrow and was tempted to reply but couldn't. 5 more chews left.
Nineteen. Twenty.
She disappeared behind a red painted door.
Twenty-one. Twenty-two.
Nyx's shouting carried down the stairs, through thin walls, and over the sound of crunching cereal.
Twenty-three.
The front door opened.
