That sound.. I've heard.. that sound before. A sound like raging wind
"Keizo!" The demon's eyes widened. Sweat trickled down its morphed face. It was as if Keizo was right in front of it, about to kill it once and for all.
Nezuko slashed off the demon's head, the head falling off its body and rolling onto the ground as it began to crumble.
Curse you! Curse you! Die!! My body is crumbling away! I can't stop it! And now she will look upon me as something unclean. She will look at me with despising eyes. No! I'm too scared to close my eyes, but.. I can't change where my head is pointing!
Nezuko stared at the demon with sad, remorseful eyes as it continued to crumble.
The last thing I will see is a demon hunter's face. How did this even happen?
The demon was now surrounded by nothing but darkness. It wasn't deformed anymore. It didn't have nothing but hands all over its body. It looked more humanoid now, with regular hair and clothes.
I'm scared. I'm alone in the night. Hold my hand the way you used to. Why did I bite my brother and kill him? Huh? Who is my big brother?
The demon held out a hand towards Nezuko as it continued to crumble. Nezuko could smell sadness as she held the demon's overly large hand with both of her own.
Tears filled its eyes as it watched Nezuko take hold of its hand, feeling a sense of comfort and warmth throughout its crumbling body, like being held by its elder brother, whom it could barely remember anymore.
Please.. please, please! Hold my hand!
Well, if I have to! You're such a scaredy-cat!
Nezuko watched as the demon's body had completely crumbled, and nothing remained.
Koyuki.. I won. You don't have to worry anymore. The other children that the demon killed.. probably became spirits, and returned as promised.. to Keizo, whom they liked so much.. and to their home on Mount Sagiri.
If I had died, my spirit would have returned.. to Tanjiro and Keizo, too.
Seven Days Later:
In the early morning"Welcome back. Congratulations. I am glad that you are safe." Said the two boys from the beginning of Final Selection.
Nezuko had managed to survive a week here at Mount Fujikasane, feeling weak and exhausted with a bandage around her head and dirt all over.
Only four remained. Her, the girl with blonde hair and a butterfly hairclip, the girl with white hair and blue eyes, and the boy with short black hair and brown eyes.
Only four of us? We started with nearly 20. That one kid isn't here either. Nezuko thought, holding onto the side of her head. I lost consciousness for a time and.. I guess he disappeared.. I couldn't save him.
The boy with black hair and a snowflake hairpin was watching a snowflake with a calm expression. How he managed to find one Nezuko had no idea.
Nezuko could near the girl with blonde hair tied into a side ponytail mumbling to herself, her eyes wide and her face covered in dirt and blood. "Die.. I'm gonna die, die, die, die. Even though I survived here, in the end, I'll die." How pessimistic of her.
The girl with long white hair and blue eyes looked quite frustrated. Nezuko could tell the girl wasn't one to wait. The girl's looks were rather deceiving, though; she looked gorgeous, but clearly, she was rather bratty. "So? What am I supposed to do now? Where's my katana?" The girl asked impatiently.
The boy with hair resembling spider legs spoke, his tone calm. "First, we will provide your corps uniform. We will take your measurements and then engrave your rank."
The boy with black hair and a widow's peak then spoke, "There are ten ranks: Kinoe, Kinoto, Hinoe, Hinoto, Tsuchinoe, Tsuchinoto, Kanoe, Kanoto, Mizunoe, and Mizunoe Right now, you are all the bottom rank of Mizunoto."
The white-haired girl spoke again, her tone even more impatient. "Where's my katana?"
"Today, you will choose the ore for your sword. Then, it will take up to two weeks for the katana to be finished." The other boy explained. "Then, we will assign you a Kasugai Crow."
Suddenly, three crows came flying towards them, squawking loudly. One of them landed on Nezuko's arm, and another landed on the silent black-haired boy.
"Huh? Crow? But this.. is a sparrow." The blonde girl said. Standing in the palm of her hand was a sparrow.
The boy with the widow's peak them said. "Kasugai crows are generally used for communication, but not always."
Out of nowhere, there was a smack. It was the white-haired girl shoving away her crow, which went flying into a tree.
"I don't care about crows!" She shouted, grabbing the white-haired boy by the hair, but his expression remained emotionless. "Katana! I want my katana! And I want it now! A demon slayer corps katana!! A colour-changing katana!!"
Nezuko grabbed the girl's arm. "Let go of this child!" She demanded. "If you don't, I'll break your arm!"
"Huh? Who're you?!" Shouted the girl angrily. What a brat. "Just you try it!!"
Nezuko tightened her grip on the girl's arm until it made a cracking sound. The girl with yellow hair, who was tending to the other girl's crow, looked at them in shock while the boy didn't pay any attention, smiling softly at the snowflake that (somehow) hovered above his hand.
"Urgh..." the white-haired girl grumbled, glaring at Nezuko.
"Are you done talking?" Asked the black-haired boy with the widow's peak. "Then come over here. Please choose the ore for making your katana. You choose the ore for yourself. The ore for the sword that will kill demons and protect you."
"I'm probably gonna die anyway." Mumbled the yellow-haired girl.
