Kenya grabbed her towel and lathered it with her favorite soap. She washed up twice before getting out of she shower. After drying her body she threw on a robe and proceeded to her bedroom. It had been a long tiresome day. She may not have worked for a living but dealing with the twins alone on most days was starting to feel like a full time job. She wanted nothing more than to retreat to her bed and sleep it off. Kenya soon found out getting rest would be impossible when she saw what looked like the silhouette of a man sitting on the edge of the bed. The room was dimly lit but the candle she kept on the dresser provided enough light for her to see who the person was. She wasn't expecting him back until the following evening. So, she was a little caught off guard. Kenya wondered how long he'd been sitting there. She silently prayed he didn't hear her sobbing in the shower?
Aaron stood to turn on the light. Her red swollen eyes were enough to stop his heart. He felt a sharp pang of remorse for his actions. Seeing her like that hit him like a physical blow to the gut. Aaron moved to approach her but she threw up her hand, signaling him to not come any closer. She crossed her arms over her chest stubbornly. His presence disturbed her. She wasn't ready to face him just yet. She needed more time to think and clear her head. If not, she just might hit him in his. Yet here he was, looking sadder than a puppy on a rainy day with its tail tucked between its legs. Ready to fuck shit up and interrupt her peace. She had a good mind to smack his ass but figured she should at least hear him out first.
" What are you doing here?" She said faintly.
" You weren't answering my calls " he replied, ignoring her question.
" I don't have anything to say to you"
" Then let me do the talking." He said, trying to reason with her.
" Why? So you can tell me a bunch of lies?" Kenya exclaimed.
Aaron sighed deeply before running his hands down his fade. A thing he does when becoming frustrated. He fucked up. There was no changing that. Now, his only option was to make it right. Aaron knew that he deserved every insult and then some. He told himself he'd rather deal with her being angry with him than for her to leave. So, he decided to shut the fuck up and roll with the punches even if they turned into physical ones. He would gladly take those too. She tightened her robe before continuing.
What is it, Aaron? Huh? Are you not satisfied with me? Have I gotten too big? You don't want this marriage anymore? What is it?" Kenya quizzed, shooting questions at him so fast that he couldn't answer them all.
This is what he was afraid of, his wife second guessing his love for her. The last thing he wanted was for Kenya to feel like he regretted their marriage because that wasn't the case at all. Sixteen years is both how long they've been together and the age he was when he'd first laid eyes on her. Even back then Aaron knew he had a good one. She turned out to be everything he's ever wanted in a woman which is why he decided early on to make her his wife. No one's relationship is perfect but Aaron felt like theirs would be the closest thing to it. Up until recently they had no issues. Maybe that was the problem. Truth is somewhere down the line he got bored. Their lives had become too routine. It had gotten to the point where Aaron could predict everything. He needed some excitement in his life. Koryn had provided that.
That wasn't to discredit his wife because he loves the ground that woman walked on. He never meant to hurt her. His actions had nothing to do with Kenya. This had everything to do with him simply wanting to experience something new for a change. On the night in question he had operated out of pure lust rather than emotion. For that he was truly sorry. He had fucked up and allowed his little head to think for him which lead to him fucking Koryn that night. He couldn't tell Kenya that though. The truth had the power to do more damage than a little bit, so he decided to spare her feelings and lie.
Aaron stepped closer, invading her space. He was no longer asking to be there but demanding it. He placed his hands on the sides of her face, cupping her cheeks gently. She tensed at his touch but the fact that she didn't move away made him feel good. It meant that she was still willing to hear him out. Aaron was grateful though it was an act that he didn't deserve. His touch helped to soften her a little. She covered his hands with hers as she gazed into his eyes. Her tears threatened to fall at any moment. Her breath caught in her throat as she anticipated his response. Kenya was trying her damnedest to remain strong. He could tell, but the trembling of her hands exposed her true feelings.
"Don't ever think like that. There's no other woman in the world I'd rather spend the rest of my life with. It's you for me, Kenya. It always has been. Always will be" Aaron reassured her. He hoped that she believed him because he meant every fucking word.
"Now, why'd he have to go and say some shit like that?" Kenya thought to herself. His words had broken through her imaginary armor and touched her right behind her ribs. Kenya's eyes leaked profusely. The tough girl act that she had once displayed went right out the window. She was putty in his hands. Aaron used his thumbs to swipe away her tears. The gesture made Kenya feel weak in the knees. God, she loved this man. In a perfect world she'd be fresh out of the shower ready to ride this nigga until the sun set, but she couldn't let him off that easily. Not this time. Kenya wiggled out of his grip, providing some much needed space between them as she stared at him confusingly. She wondered how he could speak of her with so much love and admiration then turn around and betray the way that he did.
" I can't even get you to be intimate with me. We haven't had sex in weeks yet you're in the club giving bitches special attention. She must be who you're screwing because it damn sure isn't me" She said accusingly. Aaron tried reaching out to her but she smacked his hand away.
"Baby, listen to me. We danced a couple of times and popped a few bottles. I was lit that night and don't remember much let alone kissing her. I wont bother denying it cause it was caught in 4k but that was it. Attention is all she got from me."
"Aaron, please don't insult my intelligence because I know what I saw."
" And I know what I did," He calmly interjected.
"You've already proven that you can't be trusted. So, how am I supposed to believe anything you say?"
Aaron shrugged, " I don't know, but I hope that you will give me the opportunity to show you that you can." He said sincerely. Kenya shook her head.
Truthfully, she didn't know whether to believe him or not. What she did know was that she wasn't ready to walk away from the only man she ever loved. She figured It wouldn't be wise to leave him without solid proof. Love just wouldn't allow her to. Right now, all she had was his word and a twenty-second video, which wasn't much. She was old enough to know that people make mistakes. Those chances heighten when liquor is involved. Shit, at least he fessed up to the kiss. Kenya wouldn't trip so long as he wasn't giving away her dick. He said he didn't. Now, it was time to move on. She had no other option but to believe her man until something or someone else told her otherwise.
" You humiliated me," Kenya mumbled. Her tears were relentless. They were coming down now quicker than she could wipe them. Aaron gently grabbed her hand and pulled her close. He kissed it tenderly before moving to her forehead, then lips. He wrapped his arms around her small frame and held her tightly as she silently cried into his chest. "I'm so fucking sorry, Babe" He whispered into her ear.
