Chapter Twenty One

Dom : Rebel had a bad nightmare last night.

Bailey: He does that. His body releases at night what he holds in during the day ,Mr. Gaines.

Dom : My name is Dominic. Or Dom. Mr. Gaines is my Pop. What exactly does he hold in ?

Bailey: I don't have the faintest idea.

Dom : You're his manager. Been with him years. You discovered him.

Bailey: All true. I receive 30 percent for essentially organizing and running his life but I am not privy to his thoughts. Or his past. You searched the apartment ?

Dom : I did except for his room. He's entitled to some privacy. I was mainly looking for security liabilities.

Bailey: Did you find anything?

Dom : No. What should I have been looking for? Or not looking for?

Bailey: Not necessary to know.

Dom : Drugs ?

Bailey: What?

Dom : Don't deny it. My cousin Angel was on crack. I know the signs. He's in recovery.

Bailey: This is not for public knowledge. If you repeat that to anyone especially the media I shall sue you and your company into the year 2040.

Dom : I'm not a gossip.

Bailey: Rebel is or was addicted to cocaine. And heroin. And sleeping pills. And pain pills. He overdosed at his farm last year. He's lucky my husband and I stopped in to check on him. I did CPR.

Dom : This is not known. How ?

Bailey: Money talks. I forced him into a twenty eight day rehab center under a fake name in Italy. He promises he's still clean.

Dom : He seems to be. Whose Jed ?

Bailey: I don't know any Jed. Maybe from his hometown days. He grew up in Geary , Arkansas. His father died in a house fire when he was six. His name was Bill. His mother Sallie was a librarian. She lives in London now. His sister Emily is famous in her own way. She's still in Geary. She's married to a local boy Lawrence Lewis whose father Jasper is mayor there. Emily and Lawrence have a four year old son named Ricky Joe which is Rebel's real name. When did he mention this Jed ?

Dom : After his nightmare.

Bailey: Interesting. He had a nightmare on the plane once. He said the same name.

Bailey: Your cousin?

Dom : What bout her ?

Bailey: Is she doing well?

Dom : No. She ODed during her senior year of highschool. During homecoming. Angel is dead. May she rest in peace. I miss her.
