When she woke up, he was gone. Her eyes fluttered open as she turned to face him but was met with the bathroom. She waited to hear noise in the house but there wasn't a sound to be heard.

Was he in the yard?

Today was meant to be THEIR day, and yet he disappeared. She reached for her phone on the night stand and saw the time: 9:50 A.M.

There were no calls or texts from Morgan at all. Laney slowly sat up and put her feet on the floor before proceeding to look for him. She walked towards the front door to see his keys gone and his car gone.

Don't overthink.

She grabbed her phone and decided to text him while brushing her teeth.

Laney: good morning 🌞 where are you?

Putting her phone down, she cooked some breakfast and did the dishes in the sink. Waiting for the sound of his truck to come in the driveway and the sound of him calling her was dreadful.

She got in the shower, shaved her body, and checked her phone to see no message. At this point, it had been almost two hours and she was getting annoyed and irritated.

She called him while putting on some comfy shorts and a tank top to have him pick up on the second ring,

"Hey baby sorry I didn't answer your text. I've been in a meeting," Morgan immediately said.

"Meeting?"

"They wanted me to extend my tour. I said no and they had a problem with it. So now it's back to writing more music," he sighed.

"Oh babe I'm sorry," Laney said. She couldn't help but selfishly want to ask about their day, "Are we still on for later?".

She heard him curse under his breath indicating that he had forgotten, "Uh- Yes I didn't forget. I'm about to drive back".

"Ok love you"

"Love you"

Even though she understood the immense pressure that came with his job, she wanted to be selfish and cry. She didn't understand why she was so frustrated but it could've been because of the built-up feelings of feeling alone and looking forward to having him to herself. A feeling she wasn't used to anymore.

She let the tears stream down her face as she changed her outfit, it was emotionally taxing sometimes dating him. But she loved him and that's what mattered.

She heard the front door open and wiped her tears quickly.

"Hey Laney girl," he kissed the side of her cheek with a bouquet of flowers, "You look beau- are you crying?".

"No? Thank you," she smiled giving him a kiss on the cheek.

The smile dropped from his face as her used his thumb to feel under her eyes, "What's wrong?".

"Nothing, I accidentally poked my eye doing makeup," she rolled her eyes at him.

He observed her quietly as she hoped he would buy it.

"So what are we doing today?" Laney asked diffusing the tension and silence between them.

"I'm going to take you to a nice dinner but I want you to decide what we do today," he answered quickly typing on his phone.

Laney nosily peered over to see him texting his manager. She knew he hadn't planned anything but wanted to make sure he couldn't use his phone for whatever they were doing.

"Let's go swim or watch a movie," Laney shrugged.

He nodded looking at his phone and Laney sighed, "Let's swim I'll go change".
