Adrien just stayed still like a statue. What could he say? If he tells her he is the father, he would have to tell her absolutely everything, including that he is the friend she was talking about. But if he just lied, he'd feel worse knowing he was lying to the love his life... not knowing what to do, he just had to avoid it just for a little more.
Adrien: That's cute, Marinette. Why do you feel that?
Marinette: I don't know, I guess maybe it is just my imagination.
Adrien: Is okay really, honestly I wouldn't mind that.
Marinette: Why?
Adrien: Well, honestly, I don't know.
Marinette: Oh, ok.
Emily: Hey, you've been here a while. I thought you'd want a snack or a drink? I brought some lemonade with some cookies.
Adrien: Thanks, mom. I didn't even notice it was a long time since we had been here.
Emily: You're welcome.
Marinette: So I'm guessing your mom likes me?
Adrien: Oh yeah, she adores you like if you were her daughter.
Marinette: That's nice.
Adrien: What's up?
Marinette: What do you mean?
Adrien: I know you very well, pr-Mari. I know when something is bothering you.
Marinette: Am I that predictable?
Adrien: Mm, so what is it?
Marinette: D…do you hate me?
Adrien: What? Why would I hate you?
Marinette: Well, after what happened at the hospital, I thought that maybe you hate it me. That you stopped loving me and that well…even if I don't remember you, maybe you'd had…lost feelings for me.
Adrien: I don't hate you, Marinette
Marinette: But I…
Adrien: I know, I know that you feel guilt for kicking me out that day and I know you probably think I hate you, but you can trust me when I tell you that I don't. Yes, it has been hard being away from you, but I know this is only temporary.
Marinette: S…so you don't hate me, not even a little?
Adrien just smiled as he hugged her.
Adrien: Not in the slightest way. I still love you the same, and I'll wait for you.
Marinette just smiled. She felt if some of her weight had been lifted from her. Chat was right he was definitely like she had said. Now she could tell him the news, and she would definitely have fun giving the poor guy a make-over.
The rest of the afternoon, they just talked as friends even so sometimes it was hard for the blond to spill out everything he knew, but at least she knew the truth about Luka and she didn't want him in her life. With that, he would be more than fine until she gathered all her memories. As he got her home, she still asked silly yet curious questions, and he was more than happy to answer.
Adrien: So, any other question?
Marinette: Mm, oh, I know. Did your mom ever show me or say anything embarrassing of you in front of me?
Adrien just laughed as he remembered the day.
Adrien: Oh yeah, she did. I was so embarrassed that she even offered to show you the recording of my freak outs, but she never had a chance, too.
