ACT 4: SCENE:4  MESSAGE FROM HEAVEN TO HELL (HEAVEN)

Upon receiving Ekaterina's letter, Commander Erwin wasted no time in summoning her psychiatrist. It was imperative to gain insight into the significance of her words and the underlying motivations behind her request. The commander sought clarity amidst the swirling currents of uncertainty that surrounded Ekaterina's plea.

In the dimly lit confines of his office, Erwin sat in quiet contemplation, the weight of responsibility heavy upon his shoulders. With each passing moment, anticipation mingled with apprehension, casting a pall of unease over the room. Finally, the psychiatrist arrived, her presence a beacon of hope amidst the shadows of doubt.

As they delved into the contents of Ekaterina's letter, the psychiatrist's keen gaze traversed the lines, seeking understanding amidst the sea of words. Yet, to their surprise, there was no labyrinth of hidden meanings to unravel, no cryptic messages veiled beneath the surface. Instead, Ekaterina's words stood as a testament to her clarity of purpose, her intentions laid bare upon the parchment.

With a sense of reverence, the psychiatrist spoke, her voice tempered with a mixture of admiration and concern. "Ekaterina's letter is concise yet poignant," she remarked, her words echoing in the stillness of the room. "Her request for limited freedom speaks volumes of her understanding of the delicate balance between autonomy and restraint within her current circumstances."

Erwin nodded thoughtfully, his mind awash with a myriad of conflicting emotions. Limited freedom—an oxymoron that encapsulated the paradox of Ekaterina's existence. How could one reconcile the desire for liberation with the stark reality of confinement?

As the discussion unfolded, Erwin found himself grappling with the complexities of Ekaterina's plight. Here was a woman whose spirit refused to be tethered or changed by the chains of her past, a soul yearning to break free from the shackles of her confinement. And yet, amidst the tumult of her desires, lay the sobering truth of her fragile state of mind.

As the meeting drew to a close, Erwin found solace in the knowledge that Ekaterina's voice had been heard, her plea acknowledged with the reverence it deserved. In the days that followed, he would embark upon a journey of introspection, seeking to unravel the tangled threads of her existence and pave the way towards a future defined by resilience and renewal. Having her as some sort of a prisoner does not really matter to Erwin. Every human in his care will have the right to speak for themselves and will be given a chance, that's his personal rule.

For Ekaterina, the road ahead would be fraught with uncertainty, yet within the confines of her limited freedom lay the seeds of possibility—a testament to the indomitable spirit that dwelled within her heart. And as the wheels of fate continued to turn, Erwin vowed to stand by her side, a stalwart guardian amidst the tempest of her trials.

And so he started a letter, addressed to Ekaterina.

Dear Ekaterina,

I hope this letter finds you well. I have carefully considered your request for limited freedom, and after much deliberation, I have come to a decision.

You are granted the privilege of limited freedom, allowing you to venture outside for an hour or two each day. However, it is important to note that this freedom comes with conditions. You must be accompanied by either myself, Levi, or Hange at all times. This is for your safety and the safety of those around you. Aside from that, you are to behave at all times, making sure that no property will be touched in any way unless permitted by your assigned supervisor. You will be have the freedom, only inside the premises  we will let you observe. You will be there to observe, take in some fresh air and to have peace in your mind, and nothing else.

I understand that this may not be the complete freedom you desire, but it is a step towards regaining some autonomy in your life. However, it is crucial that you understand the gravity of this decision. If you choose to accept this freedom, you must adhere to the rules set forth.

Furthermore, I must make it clear that should you accept this offer, there will be consequences. You will forfeit the right to leave the premises without prior discussion and planning in the future. Any attempt to do so will result in punishment no one wants to experience nor want to give. I hope my words do not become a threat in your head but simply a warning and a guiding hand for you to consider.

Please take the time to consider this offer carefully. Your well-being and everyone's safety are the most important to us, and we want to support you in your journey towards recovery.

Sincerely,

Commander Erwin

Ekaterina felt a strange mix of nerves and frustration as Levi entered the room, bearing a letter. They hadn't anticipated its arrival so soon, nor did they expect it to hold such weight, personally addressed by the commander himself. With a cautious hand, Levi passed the letter to her, his eyes brimming with curiosity, though he could have easily sought the information from Erwin directly.

As Ekaterina scanned the contents, her heart raced with anticipation. She knew the implications of this letter could change everything. She hesitated before whispering the words aloud, revealing the unexpected news that she had been granted an hour of supervised freedom.

Levi's reaction was swift and unexpected. He snatched the letter from her grasp and swiftly left the room, leaving Ekaterina bewildered and slightly unsettled. Though she didn't outwardly express it, a surge of mixed emotions coursed through her veins, unsure of what this newfound freedom might entail.

He expected Erwin to not agree or to dismiss the idea directly, but then this happened.

What the fuck does this mean?

What the actual fuck is he planning this time?

These are his thoughts as he read the contents over and over again making sure he isn't going crazy or misunderstanding the writings of a very complex thinking leader. Giving Ekaterina this limited freedom means that she'll be able to observe how their squad moves and plans. And there is no mistake of it, this is what Erwin wants also; it is stated in the letter at least three times that Ekaterina is to observe. If she gets this freedom to observe, it means that she'll be trapped here forever. Either she'll die here or work here. That cannot be. Surely. Moreover, Even if she stays here forever, she's a danger. Not physically but what she will know. The squad is already cautious with each other to protect the secrets of the squad and its identity as well as for themselves, what more with a total stranger?

You better give a damn better reasons for this Erwin.
