I couldn't move from where I lay, watching as Billy got ripped apart, his screams of terror and pain echoing through my head. That's until El stood, pushing herself to her feet. Her knees were wobbly, and her foot was still bleeding, but she did it and she stood her ground, throwing out her hand and letting out the most earth-shattering scream I have ever heard.
El pulled the Mindflayer, dragging its whithering body across the glass-covered ground, forcing it to drop Billy. That's when I moved. I ignored my body's screams of agony, I dragged my bruised knees across the floor and I grabbed him. Billy gasped in pain, blood leaked out of his mouth, but he still had some fight left in him. "Hey, hey." I cooed breathlessly into his matted hair.
"You're okay, you're okay."
The air stilled as El stood over the dead body of the Mindflayer, her body trembling before she collapsed onto the ground.
....
It took five weeks in the hospital before Billy was officially allowed to be discharged. His wounds from Mindflayer were stitched together and no longer at the threat of ripping open.
Steve stood at Darian's side as they loaded Billy into the back of his beamer. Billy gritted his teeth as he struggled to move, careful not to pull any of his stitches. "Okay, okay." Steve breathes, gently lifting his feet and setting them down.
Darian swallows nervously, "Okay let's go." Darian says softly.
....
Steve drove in silence as Darian sat at his side in the passenger seat, both holding hands while focused on the road.
Billy sat in the back and watched as the trees flashed by, contemplating the last few weeks, before looking up to stare at the side of Darian's pale face.
Feeling his stare, Darian turns his head and their eyes meet.
....
Everything had changed since the 4th of July. The Government swooped in, silencing everyone on what had happened, clearing out any Russian base, and paying hush money to the party.
The upside of it all--Billy was well taken care of. Upon his request, he was emancipated from his father and was living in a nice home at the edge of Hawkins. A home that initially felt empty and hollow, but was quickly filled with the warm presence of Darian and Max, who both made sure he wasn't alone.
Darian and Billy's relationship hadn't been the same, both were traumatized from what they were put through. But they were working through it.
....
Steve sets the last chair in the dining room before clapping his hands, satisfied. "Okay! It's official! It's a home!" Steve says with a grin, he happily made his way towards Darian, clasping his hands on his hips and tugging him close, making him laugh. "Okay hotshot, let's give Billy a tour." Darian says
Steve hums, offering a small pout. "Or we can let Max do it and we can go to my place where I can give you a tour of my bed." Steve teased, watching as a red flush made its way across Darian's face.
"You're terrible." Darian laughs. Still smiling, he pulls away from Steve and makes his way towards the living room where Billy is playing a board game with Max and El.
"You're cheating." Billy rumbles
El shakes her head. "Nuh-uh, you just suck." El states
Billy scoffs, playfully glaring at the teen.
