"Goodnight Wheeler." Steve chuckles over the landline. "Goodnight Harrington." Darian whispers, twirling the cord, a giddy smile on his lips.
As the phones clicked, there was a slam at his window, causing Darian to jump and whirl around on his bed. A wet hand pushes open the window and a mop of dirty blond hair pokes through.
Billy stumbles into the small room, trembling and wet from the rain.
With shaky legs, Darian stands. "Billy, what the hell." Darian breathes. He grabs a pair of sweatpants and pulls them up his legs, walking towards Billy's wet body.
Suddenly Billy stands and he grabs Darian's waist, clutching to him in a desperate hug. Darian was frozen in place, confused. "Billy." Darian whispers, feeling the body holding him, tremble.
"Please, just let me hold you." Billy whispers
Darian nods. "Okay." Darian whispers
There was a sharp crack of thunder in the distance.
....
Darian lay in silence as Billy clutched to him, still trembling, even sleeping.
....
The next morning.
Darian gently set a mug at his bedside, leaving a note underneath once Billy woke up. As much as he wanted to stay and find out why Billy was out in the rain and looking terrified, he had work. He couldn't risk losing his job.
Darian sighs deeply, gently caressing the side of Billy's sleeping face.
....
The record store was filled with people all afternoon long, so he didn't have time to call back home and check up on Billy.
"-Darian!?"
Darian hums, slowly coming out of his thoughts to look up at Steve who had been calling out to him for the past five minutes. "What?" Darian asks
Steve chuckles. "I've been calling your name for the past five minutes. Are you okay?" Steve asks
Darian offers him a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. What were you saying?" Darian asks, giving him his full and undivided attention. Steve offers him a fond grin, going back into detail about what Dustin and Robin were doing back at Scoops.
