PARINIDHI
The party was in full swing, the living room bustling with activity as Devansh and I greeted guests with warm smiles. Devansh looked dashing in his black suit, his presence commanding attention, while I stood by his side in a wine-colored dress.
Suddenly, a young man, likely in his mid-twenties, approached us, holding a box in his hand. "Hi Ma'am, I'm Arnav Jha, Devansh sir's PA," he introduced himself, presenting the box to Devansh before acknowledging me with a courteous nod. I extended my hand to shake his, offering a polite thank you for joining us.
I acknowledged his gesture with a polite smile, momentarily distracted by his presence. Sensing Devansh's gaze on me, I withdrew my hand, a subtle tension lingering between us.
Without hesitation, Devansh directed Arnav, "Handle the arrangements. I need a moment alone with my wife." His touch was firm yet possessive as he guided me towards the back door, his intentions unclear.
As we stepped out into the backyard, Devansh swiftly removed his hand from my body, causing me to stumble in my heels.
Before I could fall, he reacted quickly, firmly holding me by the waist and steadying me on my feet. His gaze locked with mine as he cautioned, "Behave yourself and don't embarrass me at the party, or there will be consequences."
Devansh took a step closer, grasping my left hand in his. Shocked, I looked at him as he continued, "If anyone asks you to dance, decline. Otherwise, you won't be able to stand on your own tomorrow, and stay with me throughout the party. If you vanish even for a second..." His voice trailed off as he glanced at my hand.
Nodding in agreement, I followed his gaze to my hand, where I discovered a diamond ring. I was stunned. Devansh's unexpected gesture left me speechless.
Suddenly, he pulled me close and planted a kiss on my lips, holding my body close to his and deepening the kiss. His sudden change in behavior puzzled me. As he pulled away, his eyes locked onto mine, and he gently squeezed my hand, leading me back into the party.
As we reentered the party, a middle-aged man entered through the door. "Hi Mr. and Mrs. Agnihotri, congratulations on your wedding," he greeted, extending his hand.
Devansh shook hands with him and replied, "Thanks for joining us, Mr. Advani."
Pointing towards me, Devansh introduced, "This is my wife, Parinidhi Agnihotri," as he placed his hand on my waist. I quickly joined my hands in a namaste gesture, while Mr. Advani awkwardly withdrew his hand and returned the greeting.
Mr. Advani's gaze lingered on me for a moment, and it felt unsettling. After that, he immersed himself in conversations with other guests, while Devansh made his rounds, engaging with each one of them.
As everyone enjoyed their drinks at the party, Devansh was engrossed in conversation with a group, yet his gaze kept drifting towards me every now and then.
I stood alone, lost in my thoughts, when a girl approached me and introduced herself, "Hi, I'm Naina, Devansh's friend."
I had never met any of Devansh's friends before. I smiled and replied, "Hi, I'm Parinidhi."
"Sorry to bother you, but could you please show me the way to the washroom? I've been looking for it everywhere," Naina asked.
"Sure, let me take you there," I replied out of courtesy, and led Naina towards the first floor. Before leaving, I glanced at Devansh, but he was still engrossed in his conversation. Assuming I'd be back soon, I didn't inform him.
As we arrived at the guest room, I courteously opened the door and said, "Feel free to use the washroom here. I'll wait outside for you."
But before I could step away, Naina grabbed my hand, forcefully pushed me to the ground inside the room, and pressed her heel onto my foot. With an evil smirk, she mocked, "You've got some nerve, trying to steal Devansh away from me!"
Stunned and writhing in pain, I exclaimed, "What nonsense are you spouting? Let go of me!" But my protests fell on deaf ears as Naina callously locked the door behind her and sauntered away.
As agony shot through my foot, I struggled to stand, mustering every ounce of strength to hobble towards the door, desperately pounding on it, "Someone, please help!"
Yet, amidst the cacophony of the party, my cries were futile, drowned out by the thumping music and the bustling of guests below, leaving me isolated and vulnerable.
With a heavy heart and trembling limbs, I made my way towards the window. But just as I reached it, the door behind me swung open, startling me. I turned around in relief, only to be confronted by a figure that froze me in place, causing the ground beneath me to slip away.
"Hi, Mrs. Agnihotri," the man greeted with a lascivious grin, his eyes hungrily roaming over my figure as he casually locked the door behind him. I instinctively took a step back, a shiver running down my spine at his predatory gaze.
His lips curled into a smirk as he closed the distance between us, his words dripping with insincerity. "Parinidhi, my apologies I mean Pari, you're simply enchanting, a vision of beauty."
"Shut up! Stay away from me!" I snapped, my voice trembling with a mix of anger and fear as I tried to create some space between us. But my efforts only led me to collide with the wall behind me, leaving me feeling trapped and vulnerable.
Undeterred, Mr. Advani continued to approach, his touch making my skin crawl as he caressed my cheek with a sickening familiarity. "Devansh is a fool to neglect a woman as captivating as you and waste his time at the party," he remarked with a disturbingly obsessive air.
Fury surged within me, and I pushed against him with all my strength, desperation coloring my voice. "Devansh will hunt you down! Let me go!"
His grip tightened around my wrists, his unwanted advances growing bolder as he leaned in, attempting to kiss my neck. I struggled against his hold, the taste of fear sour on my tongue as I fought back tears of frustration and disgust.
With a surge of adrenaline, I summoned all my strength and delivered a forceful kick to his shoe, causing him to recoil in surprise and anger. His demeanor shifted, a dangerous glint entering his eyes as he regarded me with a twisted sense of admiration.
"You're quite feisty, I must say," he remarked, his voice laced with menace as he leaned closer, his intentions chillingly clear. "I like it. This will be quite enjoyable."
Panic gripped me as I desperately tried to push him away, but before anything more could transpire, a sudden bang echoed through the room, startling us both. Mr. Advani quickly released me, his gaze darting towards the door as it swung open, revealing Devansh standing there, his expression a mixture of hatred and rage.
