PARINIDHI

As the clock approached 7 in the evening, I found myself tucked away in a corner of a busy café. I had chosen the location and time carefully.

Meeting a stranger in an unfamiliar place wasn't my usual style; it felt unsafe, and I wasn't about to take unnecessary risks. After taking a sip of my coffee, I set the cup down and glanced outside through the café's glass wall. There, I saw the figure I had been waiting for—the person behind the mysterious messages.

"Hello there, Miss Beautiful," Sahil greeted as he took the seat opposite me.

I shot him a pointed look and replied, "It's Parinidhi Verma. Let's keep this discussion focused on business, not pleasantries."

Sahil chuckled and raised his hands in mock surrender. "You're quite the enigma. Most women would soak up the compliments, but here you are, getting all worked up."

I stayed silent, knowing his words were just a facade.

He ordered himself a coffee and slid a file across the table. "Take a look at your dear husband's activities—or should I say, his obsession with you."

Reluctantly, I reached for the file with trembling hands, unsure of what Sahil intended to show me. Flipping it open, I was greeted by a photo of Devansh on the first page. Confusion clouded my mind. Why was Sahil showing me pictures of Devansh?

As I started to ask, Sahil cut in, "Keep looking."

I turned the pages, each one revealing another photo of Devansh. Anger simmered inside me, but I kept flipping through. By the fourth photo, shock washed over me. It showed a familiar place near my home, a spot I often passed on my way to the office.

My heart raced as I studied the photo. Each image featured Devansh at locations significant to me. It seemed as if he had been following me, watching my every move.

"Got the gist?" Sahil asked, trying to lighten the mood.

I remained silent, my gaze fixed on the file as anger built inside me. I closed the file, trying to calm my rising emotions, and shut my eyes for a moment of peace.

"Oh, are you already scared? There's plenty more to uncover," Sahil said with a teasing tone.

His attempt at humor only irritated me further. "I'm not in the mood for jokes," I snapped, pointing an accusing finger at him. "I'm not exactly finding humor in this right now. Let's not make it worse."

Sahil's playful demeanor faded, replaced by a more serious expression, though a faint smile remained. "I was just trying to ease the tension. Didn't mean to upset you."

I set the file down and leaned back in my chair, crossing my arms tightly.

Sahil seemed to understand I was waiting for more information. "Devansh had his eye on you two years before the wedding. Almost immediately after he first laid eyes on you... Well, within a week, he had acquired the company you used to work for. And as for the changes in your department and other maneuvers, I'm sure you're already aware of them," he explained.

As Sahil's words sank in, the puzzle pieces began to align. Ajit and I had once worked together in the same department, but suddenly we were reassigned to different floors and divisions. It was becoming clear that Devansh was manipulating the situation to keep us apart.

Sahil waved his hand in front of my face, snapping me out of my thoughts. "You never went to any office events or outings; you were always buried in work," he observed.
